My voice was nowhere to be heard by anyone as I was laughing like crazy. The dragon that I was taking care of grew for these past few months and boy was he a really energetic dragon.
I sat by a rock as I watched my dragon brother play tag with our family dog as mom and dad finished setting up the tent for our monthly family outing in the woods.
It feels good to have a little brother smiling without a care in the world. Especially if your brother is a dragon.
My little brother, finally tired of chasing our poor doggo, walked towards me panting while having a cheerful smile in his face.
"Nee-san!" Knighty said. "Come on! Let's go play! I'm really tired playing with Rufus! He's too fast!" He said as he bit the sleeve of my sweater that I was wearing and started to drag me off.
I just smiled as I followed him towards a clearing in the forest, but not before telling my parents where we are headed.
Walking with Knighty in a slow pace, I enjoyed the silence we are hearing as we enjoyed each others company. As we walked towards our destination, I began to remember the time where I welcomed Knighty to my home.
---
By some time when we finally got off from the forest and went home, I introduced my baby dragon to my parents. They were pretty reluctant at first for believing that it is a dragon, but they finally believed me after a few small embers torched my dad's hair and some wooden parts of the house. Thankfully, my house is mostly made of nonflammable material so we're all good. The accepting part is a whole different matter though, once my parents believed its a dragon, they urged me to abandon it and put it back to somewhere I found him.
I did not agree to their demands though. I told them everything what happened the day I disappeared (which by the way made them worried sick about me) from the dragon that I met and the potential what this baby dragon can do. There is just no way that I'll abandon this cute bundle of huggable scaly derg.
Of course, my stubbornness did not went by without consequences. My parents threatened me that if I don't return the baby dragon back where it came from, they will call animal control and take away my baby dragon. Of course, I don't want that to happen, so I returned to the forest the next day with my parent in tow and the sleeping baby derg in my arms.
I thought what they're saying is not fair at first, but after much careful thinking, I came to conclusion that taking care of a baby dragon is probably the most dangerous thing I could have done in my whole life. Plus, there are also those weirdos who take their 'love' of dragons to another level...
I know I cannot take care of this dragon, even if I did promised his father. But If I do, then there will be problems regarding my social life and this baby derg's. But...
"Mom, Dad..." My thoughts are in a jumble of mess right now as I sat in the dirty ground beneath me, Knighty, who sees me in distressed, waddles towards me and nuzzles my face.
I raised my head and looked at the passionate baby derg giving me affection. Sometimes, it feels good to have someone out there to give you that kind of treatment when you needed it.
I stroke the dragon's head as he let out a small purr. His head nudges my cheeks cutely as his tail wags from left to right as he lays down on the earth and sighs.
'No. I promised to take good care of you. I can't---'
-----
My flashback was rudely interrupted when Knighty suddenly tackled me into the ground as he knocked off the breath of me.
"C'mon nee-san! You've been standing there again! Come play with me!" Knighty said as he is jumping repeatedly in my poor downed body on the ground. I let out an 'Oof' every time his body connected to mine.
