"Nee-san..." Knigthy said for the fifth time as I finished eating the last hotdog on the table as I looked at him curiously as he gave me a cute puppy eye stare.

"Hug?"

'Oh my god, stop being so adorably cute you scaly potato.' I invited him over as Knighty affectionately nuzzled his head in my stomach. He then looked up and give me a 'blep' as I did my best to not squish his face and smother him with unconditional love and affection.

"Oh my. What has gotten you so clingy like that suddenly?" My mother said as she smiled while taking a photo of me and my surrogate brother.

"I just want hugs." Knighty happily stated as he got back to nuzzling me with his heavy, small frame as I petted his head.

"You want something from me, don't you?"

"Eh hehe..." Knighty bashfully looked away as I let out an exasperated sigh. Well, I'm pretty sure I was like this when I was a kid so it's no surprise that he would act cute to get the things he wanted to. Still...

"So, what do you want?" I pushed his head away from my chest since his horns are dangerously close to poking my face as he looked down on the ground with his tail twitching and acted all cute again.

"Well... You know that my birthday is someday next week right?" Knighty hesitated to look me in the eye as mother and father looked at him with raised eyebrow. "I was wonder if... I can go to school?"

Oh.

Knighty looked at me, and then my parents as we struggled to come up with a good explanation. For the past few birthdays, Knighty has been always asking if when wa his turn to go to school. But everytime he brings up that subject, everyone in the room went quiet since we don't know how to grant his wish in the first place.

Noticing the silence from my psrents and me, Knighty's ears went all droopy as he let out a quiet "oh."

"Honey," My mother went to comfort Knighty who suddenly lost his energy as it breals my heart to se him in that state. "I know that you have been craving for more friends but... You know what happened the last time we tried to introduce you to another person right?" Knighty nodded solemnly as my father went up to support him as well, rubbing his shoulders as I can do nothing but sit there and remember that awful time where a close relative of ours kidnapped my brother and tried to sell him to some shader people.

Nedless to say, I beat my uncle to a pulp thanks to the Karate lessons that my father 'forced' to sign me up when I was little.

Still, even though we have gotten Knighty back who was traumatized by the experience, a lot of people already caught glimpses of Knight and we were forced to go into hiding. There was even a time where he feels guilty to the point where he tried to desert us and went to the forest and live alone.

Luckily, the necklace that was with me at that time helped me in locating my surrogate brother. When I saw him, my heart ached into the sight of a dragon who hadn't eaten in days and was covered in dirt and wounds. I immediately rushed into him and berated him for doing something so stupid. Tears were shed and a few dozen apologies later, we went home and had a tearful reunion with the rest of my family as we patched up Knighty as we could.

Looking at Knighty right now, I can tell that he craved friends more than ever. And I wish we could give him that, but it's just too dangerous. Humans are no doubt, greedy and selfish and I am not excluded. Even I admit that I have my moments.

Still...

"How about online friends?" Knighty's ears perked up as he rose and looked at me after hearing the word 'friend'.
