Part 6: "Up in the trees" (14)

 The number of tributes this day was reduced to 14. District 15 tributes Chat and Jessica are doing their daily routine near their base, a perfectly concealed cave in a hard to find part of the forest. The Game makers commended them for their incredible feat in making their base that they left them alone for 10 Days but they did not feel that this was fair to the other tributes so they decided to stir things up. Audrey from District 13 was constantly moving daily because of the paranoia set by her partner’s death on Day 1.

She carries with her a brown backpack from the cornucopia containing water, grilled rabbit, and her trusty bombs. As she was looking for a good place to stay today, she was startled by a growl. Not any growl, but a growl by a muttation. When she saw the oversized beast she screamed and ran away as fast as she could but the mutation was so fast it almost caught up to her hood. After crossing a river, the mutation did not follow her which confused her but gave her a big sigh. This was because the game makers lead Audrey to the District 15 base. So that Chat and Jessica would have a taste of the games. The partners were out for a day of hunting and swimming when Audrey saw them. She precariously climbed up a tree hoping she would not be seen. As she climbed up the tree she lost sight of Chat and Jessica, she panicked and thought that she was sighted by the two that’s when two needles pierced her leg and back. She gave a scream of pain and turned to the direction that the needles came from, it was Chat and Jessica preparing their needles to pierce Audrey as if they were making her a porcupine. The third and fourth needle pierced her leg again as she closed her eyes with pain.

Hoping that her opponents would step on the bomb she planted on the ground. “hey Jessica, want to finish her for good?” said Chat. “Of course, let’s end her misery, she’s not worth it” Said Jessica. Chat pointed to a bush of nightlock and Jessica already knew what to do. She crushed up the berries and covered her needles with it as Chat puts a fifth needle through Audrey’s back. “Stop please!” Audrey begged. As Jessica was about to give Chat a couple of poison needles for both of them to throw she heard a click. She widened her eyes as she realized that this was a bomb. Jessica was enveloped in flames as her partner Chat watched helplessly as bombs set off consecutively to her direction. In a flash, she was enveloped in flames also.

Not long after that, two cannons fire and Audrey let out a sigh of relief and victory as she pulls out the needles that lodged in her body. When she went down the tree she saw a cave full of supplies and weapons. This was Chat and Jessica’s base. The fire must have burned off the pile of leaves and branches that covered the base. Audrey stayed here for the night and thinking she would not leave this base for the remainder of the games. As Audrey was in her first deep slumber she was awakened by a loud burst of thunder. When she opened her eyes she saw a blurry figure of a tribute standing before her. Her eyes widened as she saw the bloodbath assassin Angeline.

She screamed to the top of her lungs as she feared the worst. “Wait! Wait! Don’t be scared! I’m not going to hurt you! Reassured Angeline. Audrey still startled by her presence is now wide awake and gave a sigh of relief. “I was looking for you for days. I guess that I can’t live alone for 10 days so I searched for the only person remaining that I knew.” Said Angeline. Audrey welcomed Angeline to her new cave and they ate a healthy breakfast of beaver and soup when Claudius Templesmith’s voice boomed through the arena. “Attention tributes, I congratulate you for making it into the final twelve. We all invite you for a feast in the cornucopia tonight. There will be a campfire and we have replenished the cornucopia full of supplies. I know most of you sre starving so come tonight for a delicious feast provided by the capitol. That is all and may the odds be ever in your favor.” After the announcement, the anthem of Panem played while showing the faces of both District 15 tributes. “I think they didn’t expect twelve tributes living on Day 11.” Guessed Angeline. “yeah, I guess. Hey, I think we have to go to that feast. We don’t have much left and I’m sure they drain the arena of animals and edible plants to force us to the cornucopia. Besides, you have mad knife skills. I’m so glad you chose to pair up with me.” Said Audrey. The two tributes packed up their stuff and headed for the cornucopia along with the ten other tributes who were scattered around the arena. Bloodshed is sure to occur in the cornucopia tonight.
