Part 7: "Cornucopia Reunion" (12)

The cornucopia was filled with new weapons; outside it was a table full of delicious delicacies still steaming hot from the kitchens of the capitol. Surrounding it was 12 wooden stumps marked by the number of the districts of the remaining tributes. "As if they're trying to get us in a friendly circle to eat all of that food" District 2 tribute Moreen whispered as she observes the strangely quiet environment. She already knows that everyone is here. They are just waiting for a signal of some sort.

A tribute dashing maybe? The twelve remaining tributes lie circled around the forest surrounding the cornucopia. All of them waiting for the bloodbath to start, all of them  

waiting to get their hands on that scrumptious food and deadly weapons. The most agile and obviously the bravest tribute Angeline dashed to the cornucopia filling her bag with knives and staying in the inner part of the cornucopia to be safe and for her to get clear shots. Sweat dripped from Angeline's face as nervousness swept her in the fear of being in a vulnerable position.

All of the tributes turned their heads as two more tributes head for the cornucopia, this time for bread and fruit. District 8 tribute Lawrence filled his bag with sesame bread and apples then he dashed for the weapons. He got a slingshot and metal plated rocks when he rummaged through the pile unaware of Angeline taking a clear shot for him. Meanwhile the other tribute, Mikee who was orphaned by her two lovers went for the chicken meat and some pastries then she also dashed for the cornucopia to get goods ignoring Lawrence but was working at an unnaturally fast pace. The tributes speculated that these two were working together when Lawrence surprised everybody as he launched his first rock at Mikee's skull as she rummaged through the pile. She fell to the ground as the first cannon of the day fires. Then all hell breaks loose. All nine tributes that were still hiding dashed for the cornucopia. They pulled out their weapons and started lashing out at  

anyone who they can reach. Angeline went out of her hiding to the battlefield outside. This was her forte. Bloodbaths.

She threw her knife at her rival, Karen from District 9 who was looking lost in the fight and that poor girl was shot in the back and another cannon fired signalling her death. Lawrence searched for the source of the knife and aimed his stone at Angeline. Angeline  

who was terrified seeing that large rock waiting to hit her, reached for a knife in her bag but her shaky hands failed to hold on to the knife she pulled out and the metal rock crushed her skull immediately as she fell down to the ground and the bloodbath claims its third victim.

Lawrence decided that his job was done and dashed for the woods but he was stopped when he heard a whoosh in the wind and an arrow to his stomach. Career tribute Elma from District 6 shot that arrow at Lawrence hoping to gain popularity by killing who seemed to be the star of the bloodbath. But Elma was surprised as she looked around. She did see anyone nor hear anything but a grass whistle. "Seems like everybody feared me and retreated" she bragged as she gave a big laugh. But what she didn't know that she was soon to be the victim of what seemed to be the finale of the bloodbath. She stood there hopeless as she saw about seven knives coming from all directions but whatever move she planned it was futile. Seven knives pierced her body as she fell to the ground, her blood already forming a small puddle around her and the final cannon for the bloodbath fired. It seemed that the seven remaining tributes talked to each other that they should share the food and resume the games the next day. This was the idea of District 3 career tribute  

Renz. He talked to seven tributes while they were hiding for the bloodbath and all of them acted as if they were gunning for each other's throats when the bloodbath started. This lead to the confusion and death of Karen, which was supposed to be District 2 tribute Andrew's partner in the bloodbath. Karen could not find Andrew when the bloodbath started that is why she seemed confused and gave Angeline a clear shot for her. The truth is that Andrew did it on purpose, a dirty strategy to get another tribute out. The seven remaining tributes enjoyed the feast and parted in their own ways, promising to resume the game tomorrow.
