Y/n opened the door to their boyfriend's house quietly, not wanting to disturb whatever he had going on. Their overnight bag was slung haphazardly over their shoulder, its contents rustling around inside as they moved. Y/n paid it no mind however, locking the door behind them and slipping off their shoes to make themself more comfortable in their boyfriend's house.
"Jules with the five tier ones, thank you so much!" His voice was slightly muffled by the distance and a wooden bedroom door, but Y/n could still make out what he was saying. They pulled their phone out of their pocket, glancing at the time and shrugging their bag back up their shoulder when it fell a little bit. The screen read a generous '10:16 p.m.' and Y/n sighed. They'd meant to come over earlier that evening, but had gotten sidetracked by other projects. It made sense that Karl had gone on and started streaming.
Making their way into the living room, Y/n fell onto the couch. Karl and Y/n had discussed going public with their relationship before. As soon as they'd gotten to a steady place Karl had asked if they wanted to announce it, but Y/n hadn't been so sure. Being a non-internet-famous person was good for them. They enjoyed being as anonymous as they pleased online, the comfort of being unknown was at risk if they agreed to go public with Karl.
When they first explained this to him, he seemed to understand. Although, Y/n remembered him looking a little sad. Karl was just such an open and affectionate person, they hated making him upset but they just weren't ready.
Sighing deeply to themself, Y/n looked for a game on their phone - anything to keep themself entertained while Karl worked. They debated, for a second, pulling up his stream, but ultimately decided against it, not wanting to deal with he echo of whenever he was shouting. To be fair, shouting was most of the content.
Bright lights flashed in their eyes as the game loaded in, Y/n focusing on their new task at hand, rather than the man a few yards away.
It was perhaps thirty minutes later when Y/n was broken from their trance. Their phone fell from their hands, game ending at their pause and flashing a screen the signified such. Y/n sat up from the relaxed position they'd taken on the couch, heart dropping at the sounds that came from Karl's room. There was a loud scream and then a huge crash, it's bump echoing throughout the house. They stood up quickly, ignoring the way their legs creaked and groaned at them. Walking towards Karl's room as fast as they could without running,Y/n didn't even think to pause at the door. They could hear grumbling of pain on the other side, and that alone was enough to warrant surprise entry as far as they were concerned. Locking their fist around the doorknob, Y/n pulled it open cautiously, not quite sure where on the floor he had ended up.
"Karl, are you okay?"
Their eyes searched the carpet, eventually settling on the mass that was their boyfriend. Karl was all twisted up, one leg straight out on the floor, and the other caught in the arms of his chair, which he'd somehow managed to take down with him. His arms were equally askew, both twirled around whatever part of their chair was nearest. He was looking at them from upside down, big eyes blown up even wider than usual, and mouth agape.
"Baby I'm streaming."
The room sort of froze for a moment, Y/n eventually tilting their gaze up toward the web camera on Karl's desk, which, indeed, had a flashing green light next to it. On one of his monitors he had Twitch pulled up. Y/n didn't have the courage to try and read the words that flew by at sonic speed. Most of their thoughts were suddenly caught in their throat, the bravery they once felt coming in, now completely evaporated.
"Oh whoops."
Karl didn't wait another moment, shutting his eyes as he fell into adorable giggles. Y/n watched him for a half a second, before allowing themself to relax as well, biting their lip and smiling embarrassedly at the man on the floor. When Karl felt calm enough to reopen his eyes, he untangled his arms from the chair, reaching up towards them with a grabby motion.
"Come help me~" He whined loudly, immediately latching onto their fingers when they offered him their hand. Y/n did their best to hoist Karl up from his predicament, the both of them laughing when Karl misstepped and fell right back down.
After a bit more struggle, Karl made it to his feet. Giving his partner a knowing look, Karl wrapped them up in a hug, facing them away from the camera. "Do you wanna come introduce yourself?" He was speaking into their ear, but Y/n was sure that the rest of their audience could hear him as well. They thought about his offer for a while, finally nodding and pulling away from the hug. Never one to go long without physical contact, Karl took their hand and guided them to the desk, his chair forgotten in the background.
"Chat, everyone, this is my partner Y/n." He gestured with big hands toward them, presenting them to the virtual crowd like a magician would his hat. Y/n waved shyly and murmured their own greetings, not quite ready to get much louder than that. Nonetheless, Karl cheered them on, pulling them in for another hug. He noticed their discomfort and focused the attention back on himself.
"Sorry about that everyone, I don't usually crash that hard."
Y/n perked back up at the mention of the fall, looking at Karl with inquisitive eyes. "Yeah, what did you do to end up on the floor?"
Karl laughed suspiciously and threw a look towards his camera, as if he was asking them not to spill a secret. "It was nothing, it was nothing."
Y/n gave him a look, quirking an eyebrow. Karl laughed again and dropped his grip on their arm, reaching up a hand to flick the center of their forehead. "Okay okay, I was doing a fit check, obviously." He paused to wave at his own outfit, posing for them before continuing. "I was doing a fit check, and my chair couldn't handle it. The fit was too fire."
Y/n rolled their eyes at him, jokingly shoving him away. "You're so annoying."
Karl giggled again and re-wrapped his arms around them, preventing any further violence. "You love it."
