J I M I NI wasn't expecting a startled face when I stood in front of her. There were many ways I imagined in my head about greeting her again, and a shocked face with trembling legs were not any of them. I somehow found her nervousness amusing and I dared not to look away. A grin started playing on my lips at her thoughts that were loud and clear.
She finally remembers.
"You look like you could use more rest" I teased. "Those legs are not going to take you anywhere, darling"
"I-I'm-"
"You" I spoke sharply at the young boy who was even more fazed at my presence. He took a step back at every step ahead I placed. "I believe you have something of mine" I continued, walking in and closing the door with the three of us inside.
What was his name again? Jungoo? Junglebook? Junecock?
The boy slid smooth like butter from my approaching figure and moved to Minrae, hiding behind her back. He peeked at random intervals over her shoulder, sometimes even acting out brave by leaving her grip only to grip back tighter on her shoulder when I stepped ahead.
"I have no idea what you are talking about man" he responded with his voice rather cracking in between.
Minrae's gaze were now cold on me. She didn't show the slightest fear like the boy did. Her hands slowly removed the boys ever so tight grip from her and shot me a deadly glare before approaching the door.
I should have noticed her red teary eyes a little earlier to comprehend the emotions she must be going through. And it all summed up when it hit me that her memories of me were also aligned with the cruel fate her brother had to face. And it somehow made me feel a little sense of guilt at the back of my head. Though I didn't want anymore of such emotions taking over me.
Sympathy was not meant for my kind.
I don't want to serve another eternity for being a Demon who saved a life.
But she is like an open book in front of me right now. And I couldn't help but feel bad for her.
"You shouldn't take rational decisions. Hoseok is not in his stable mind" I spoke, knowing why she was restless to leave the room.
"I take my own decisions" she declared with her hands pressed on the cold metal door handle, yet she never pulled it open.
She hesitated.
"You're seriously going to leave me with him!!? What the hell Minare! What happened to being partners huh?" the Junbook boy yelled. I shot him a glare after which he panicked and held a cross that he made with his hands towards me.
"That doesn't work"
"In the name of the father the-"
"That doesn't work either, kid'
"In the name of Namjesus be gone, Demon"
"What even is that now?" I asked, massaging my temples in complete disbelief.
"Why can't I meet him?" an angry voice spoke with fierceness in her tune.
Distracted by the other human who had been trying several tricks to warn me, I didn't realize how close she had come. If it wasn't for my confused gaze, her hands would have found my collar already. But she collected herself.
"I want to see him, please" she pleaded this time.
"You can. I am in no position to stop you from it. However, don't forget that Hoseok had been trapped in a circle of time that slowly passed by him. His state of mind is still very delicate and confused. He definitely recognizes you regardless of those years passing before his human eyes" I continued. "But he may not be able to look at you the same way. Give him time."
