Hunter's POV:
That was hell. I hadn't had to relive that night in years so to feel it all again was like a punch to the gut. I wake up gasping and watching the room to see if any shadows are coming out to haunt me but nothing happens. Damn you, Heidi. I think to myself angrily. Damn you to the darkest circle of hell. Sitting up I run a hand through my hair and try to figure out what to do.
But something keeps nagging me. I'm sure I didn't open that memory-door in my mind. Somehow it opened and let out the memories I've tried so hard to repress. I try to remember the dream past the onslaught of memories but I can't find any trigger that would have set them off. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I try to ignore the nagging feeling in my chest but it won't let up. Groaning in frustration I hear my phone chime and reach for it seeing a message from Ash and another from an unknown number. I open the unknown one fist.
Who is this? The message is short and simple but I can't work out who it's from. Nothing follows. I'm tempted to answer but something about the mystique of the situation holds me back. Instead, I switch to look at Ash's text. Opening the message I have to read it twice for it to make any sense.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. Talk to Rosa she needs you. I read it a third time before I respond, being careful about how I answer.
Why what happened? I can see Ash takes his time to respond and I'm about to give up waiting when the message flashes across my screen.
I-I made a mistake. Ok, not helpful but... I'm sorry. The message follows on and I answer.
Why? What did you do? Silence. Ash, He doesn't respond for a few minutes until he repeats something he said earlier.
Talk to Rosa. Find her and talk to her. She needs you. I frown at his message but I can sense the urgency so try to figure out why he was so insistent. Absently my mind to the dream about Heidi. Expanding my focus out from the memory itself I can sense someone else's presence with me. Rosa's. All of a sudden Ash's apology makes more sense but when I look at the rest of that dream from her perspective I can't stay mad at him for long. Instead, I focus on trying to find her.
Searching for her I find her moments later. She's freaked out like I am, but something tells me that keeping my distance would be a good idea. Until I realise she's wandered around in her sleep and ended up in a corridor. Knowing what the others in my family would do if they found her I hurried out to try and find her, running into Ash on the way.
"Did you find her?" We both ask at the same time. I can tell he's worried as his eyes keep searching around us restlessly. "Did you?" I shake my head and his face falls. "We have to find her. Now,"
"Ok, I vote we split up and look separately. That way we can cover more ground." Ash is nodding and I'm about to move when I remember the other text I'd received earlier. Showing it to Ash I ask him the burning question. "Who's number is this?"
