Hunter's POV:
Finding my way back to the mansion takes considerably longer than it did to originally find the clearing in the Wilds Rosa took me too but I eventually manage it. Give or take a few hours, some creative cursing and a lot of wandering around aimlessly until I find a path I remember. Mostly because both of our scents are there. Lingering. Finally, I make it back to the south lawn, still holding Rosa gently where she's sleeping in my arms. Cradling her gently her head rests on my shoulder and she keeps making adorable noises in her sleep, small mumbles and moans that make me smile to hear after six months of silence. Tightening my grip minutely she mumbles restlessly, a wide grin on her face where her eyes are still closed. Though her lashes keep fluttering which makes me feel like she's waking up.
Diverting down the side I come to the back door, jiggling Rosa to one side to try and open the door. But that seems to wake her and she yawns, rubbing her eyes gently to look around. "Wha...what happened?" Her voice is adorably husky with sleep and it makes me smile as we slip through the back door. "Hey, I can walk you know?" She pouts, sounding delightfully grumpy and I consider keeping hold of her until she starts trying to escape which is when I have to let her down before I hurt her. Although when she is on her feet she stumbles, her heels clicking randomly as she tries to walk in a straight line. "Wha - what's happening to me? Am...am I drunk?"
I give a low laugh, sweeping her off her feet until she's back in my arms, pouting again at me in a cute way that has me fighting a smile. "I don't think you're drunk love unless it's on a lack of sleep," Her eyes turn towards the floor, shame making her cheeks turn scarlet in shame. "You ok?" I smooth her hair away from her eyes and she sighs. "Rosa? Rosa love what's wrong?" She releases a long sigh and rests her head back on my shoulder.
"I - I just...shit." Her eyes had been drifting shut again but suddenly they fly back open, the dim wall lights shining off of her unusual eyes to make them look like lit flames. For a second I'm sure I see her black and amber eyes flash over before they shift back to her normal ones. "Did- did anyone see us leave or...or did...did we...we...we..." Her words slur together and her eyes close again. "We..." I hear one last word before her breathing evens out and she's asleep.
Following the wide hall, I come to the bottom of the stairs, stopping when I see into the living room area. There the pack are asleep around the fireplace, the flames gleaming off of their fur to make it look sleeker. Shinier. On the chairs I see some witches reading grimoires and old spellbooks with an intensity that makes me frown. Catching sight of my brother's dark head amongst them he turns, almost as if he knows I'm looking at him and he turns, seeing Rosa in my arms asleep. For some reason the sight makes him smile before she turns back, whispering something in Eris's ear and she turns the same way, motioning me inside. I gesture to the woman asleep in my arms and she smiles in understanding.
Turning away I go up the stairs silently, keeping an eye on Rosa to see if she'll awaken again but she stays silent and sound asleep. Taking steps as quietly as I can I end up at her door and push it open silently, stepping into the room and inhaling lungfuls of her intoxicating scent that sends my emotions running wild. Waking carefully in the dark I jiggle her to one side and pull the duvet down. Sliding her underneath it I pull it carefully over her and walk back to the door, waiting one second to see her turn over and face away from the light. Satisfied she's ok I close the door and descend the stairs back to the room. "What's up?" I ask, startling some of the people inside. But not Ash.
