Never a Graying Sky||Chapter 6

Beth smiles as she skips through the camp ground. Her sister frowning Walks up to her as she stops at the porch steps.
"You're awfully happy." Maggie says putting her hands on her hips.
"And why shouldn't I be?" Beth says walking up the stairs. Her sister follows in through the door. 
"Wouldn't have anything to do with Daryl?" Maggie asks a little mockingly. Beth spins around to face her sister, her smile now gone.
"And if it did? What then?"  Beth asks sternly. Her sister's eyes narrow.
"I'm not a little girl anymore." Beth says, turning back around to get more silverware from one of the drawers.
"I just worry. You're my baby sister." Maggie says with a softer. Beth hated when Maggie pulled this card. She's 21 no longer a baby.
Maggie walks to beth's side
"I understand and I know you love me, but I'm an adult now." Beth says turning her head a bit to smile at her sister.
"Also, I wanted to apologize about this morning. I shouldn't have said it quite like that." Maggie says putting her hand on her shounder.
"Thanks Maggie." She says heart lifting a bit.
"Also also," Maggie says dragging out the last also. Beth looks at her confused.
"Yeah?" she asks looking over her sister.
"Well, I'm pregnant." Maggie says smiling widely. Beth's eyes widen as her smile grows and gapes open.
"Oh my god Mags!" She says hugging her sister. And for a moment Beth forgets about the quarrels and her own feeling.
"We want you to be the God Mother." Maggie says in Beth's ear. Beth's hear soars.
"This is amazing." she says as tears start to flow.  they break apart and just smile at the other.

Tonight is different. no fire like the past few days. Maggie and Glenn are announcing to everyone else about the baby. They gather around in the front yard as the bikers mount their bikes.
"We'll meet ya'lll there." Rick says smiling.
"Hold ya to it." Hershel says walking to his blue truck, beth almost following when Daryl grabs her hand.
"Ride with me." He says, his eyes hidden behind his aviators. Beth looks back to her father who just smiles and nods her on. Daryl strips his leather vest and hand it to her. She shimmies it on and climbs on the back. Soon the bikes came alive and her arms linked around his waist. Excitement runs through her body as he slowly goes forward. He follows Rick and Shane out toward the street, he lets his hand settles on hers as he pulls onto to road and its smooth sailing.

The wind makes Beth's hair fly everywhere. She squeezes Daryl's middle and he squeezes her hand back. She'd never imagine herself on a motorcycle. It was a whole new experience. Beth looks over at  Rick's bike with Michonne on the back. Her hands hanging onto the back of the seat. She smiles toward Beth and she leans forward as Rick leans back into each other. It ignites something Beth's chest. Daryl was doing the same thing. Her leaning into him and him leaning into her.
The sun setting behind them as they make their way to the wooded park. The entrance just a mile more up the road.

"Alright time to explore!" Beth hears Carl say as he jumps out of the truck. Beth climbs off the bike onto the solid ground and her legs shake a bit.
"Ah. the newbie shake." Michonne says holding her steady. "It'll wear off."

"Alright, this outting is special for everyone. Lets turn the music up and cook some food!" Glenn says helping rick unload the grills from the truck.  The tunes cranked up and the group chattered away.  Daryl looks upon the scene as he sits on the tailgate. He wants this. His whole being wants this. He wants the family aspect of it all. He sees Beth and Maggie dance around singing to the song on the radio.
It just seemed easier for him to be here than what he used to do. The secerts he held onto.
"You know, Dale told me." Rick says coming close.
"Told ya what?" Daryl says looking from beth to everyone else.
"That you both plus carol are buying the shop in town." he pauses but Daryl stays silent. "It's because of her isn't it?" Rick nods toward Beth. Daryl lets his eyes slip back toward her.
"Yeah."
"Well its about time." Rick says slapping Daryl's leg.
The music slows and soon Maggie and Glenn join together. Michonne nabs Rick from Daryl and Dale swirls Carol around. He watches as Carl spins Beth. Her hair going everywhere. They both laugh and is audible over the music. Daryl's heart races but he slides of the tailgate and taps Carl's shoulder. Carl looks at beth, but reluctantly lets go. Daryl grabs Beth's hand and she gets close.
"So I told Maggie about us." She says queitly.
"Oh? well I told Rick." He says and smiles. Beth grins.
"So what does that make us?" Her smile widening.
"Us." He says holding her closer.
As Maggie and Glenn took center stage, the Picnic table. Beth slids her hand in Daryl's. He looks down for only a moment before she places her head on his arm. It feels so right in Daryl's chest.
"Alright! Of course we would have taken you guys to a fancy restaurant, but that's not our style." theres whoops and a whistle. "Now since We didnt have a proper wedding, we want to do the the joining again. but before that," glenn looks at maggie. She smiles and breathes in and out.
"I'm pregnant. about 6 weeks. And we were hoping Beth would do us the honor of being the God mother." Beths cheeks flare with the sudden attention.
"Of course!" she says smiling. Squeezing Daryl's hand.
"And we know Rick has Carl and Judith who's at home with Momma Grimes and Papa Grimes, so we thought Rick?" Rick nods with a smile.
"Alright then! let's start." Glenn says and Rick steps up on the picnic table joining Glenn and Maggie's hands.
"To this group we join these people, again," Rick says and the group laughs. "They are already so close and bring together others." he continues looking out at Daryl, his arm now around Beths shoulder hold in her hand.
"Let them continue to be happy and never let their skies gray." he finishes and steps down.
"Let's eat!" Glenn says jumping down, only to turn and catch maggie as she too jumps down.
