Chapter 3

Taylor

The day had passed slowly, each second creeping by, taunting me. The sun sat on its throne, unmoving at the top of the sky, as if to gloat how slowly time was passing. I love my cousin Azzie, I really do, but god do I hate her 'school persona' and her sheep-like friends. I know I should be happy that she's grown up from the little quiet mouse of a girl she used to be, but it's so difficult when she's flirting with every male in sight and gossiping like an old person. To be honest, my little Azzie has grown up to be everything I've ever hated. But I don't hold it against her, she's like a little sister to me, I could never hate her. I just don't see why I have to spend all my school time surrounded by her airhead followers.

I began to play with one of the red strands amongst my blonde hair. I remembered when I first dyed my hair, and how my parents blew a fuse over it. I loved it, still do. It shows I'm different, I'm me. I remember the day I had it dyed. Me and Luke had been spending the day in the nearest town, just the two of us.

~FlashBack~

It was in my second year at GreenWood, and during the winter holidays. We'd been messing about in the town centre for the past few hours, just having fun. I'd missed not seeing Luke around that much during school, since he were in the year above Azzie and I. But we had bought a pizza, that we were sharing, as we sat on the wall across the street from a hairdressers. We were making up stories about each person we saw on the street, trying to figure out who they were and why they were on that street at that time. Laughing harder than was probably healthy, I noticed a girl a little older than us walking into that hairdressers. She looked pretty normal, nothing that anyone would remember. Luke and I were complaining about how perfectly boring I looked, how I looked just like my parents wanted me to. The girl came out of the hairdressers later, this time with electric blue highlights in her hair. It was only a minor difference, but she had changed from another blurred face into someone I'd remember. That's when I got the idea.

I grabbed Luke's arm and pulled him across the street, much to his surprised protest. I pulled him into the hairdressers along with me, knowing very well what I was about to do. By the time we left, my hair was highlighted with red streaks. I remember Luke following me, laughing as I punched the air in happiness and victory.

"Hell yeah! See what a perfect daughter I am now, world!!!" I laughed like a madwoman.

"You're mental Tay," Luke smirked as he punched my arm.

"I know! And that's why you love me," I joked.

"Sadly, that's true. The fact is, I'm also mental..." He trailed off. "Which is why I'm doing this!" Luke grabbed my hand and pulled me down the street. He turned corner after corner, dodging unsuspecting people, dragging me with him. Finally, we reached a tattoo parlour.

"Huh?" I asked, confused. Luke just tapped his nose and then walked in. Before I could follow him, he stopped me.

"Wait here," Luke ordered, I nodded. When he came back, he just walked past me, not talking. I followed him, but he didn't turn around until we were in an empty park, free from any other people nearby. Luke stopped and turned around suddenly, causing me to walk into him.

"Luke?" I asked, trying to figure out what he had done.

"I told you I was mental... But at least now, I'll never forget you," Luke replied, smiling a little. He rolled up his sleeve and pointed to his shoulder. Barely noticable, were the letter 'T' for Taylor, tattooded in black ink.
