10) I fall into a chasm

The trident faded away, and everything that it implied hit me like a ton of bricks. (Not literally, unlike my friend Jason). If Percy was Poseidon's son, that meant the god of the sea had broken the oath. The three most "powerful" gods, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades; the three brothers, swore an oath not to have kids sixty years ago, and two of them had already broken it. The kids of these gods caused too much trouble, they were always in danger, and most of them met a horrible faith, like Thalia. If Percy met the same end... No, I couldn't think like that. We had already lost many campers in the past years. Percy was in more peril than he realized, especially now that everyone knew his father was Poseidon.

Then I realized, somehow, Hades had known before all of us, and that's probably why he sent the Minotaur after Percy. Chiron told me that the oath also had to do with a prophecy. At first, we thought the person the prophecy was referring to was Thalia, but then she died, er- transformed. After that, we didn't know what to think of it. Until Percy was determined. Apart from everything I mentioned, these powerful demigods threaten the Olympians, because they are, well, powerful, and they could disrupt or destroy Olympus. That's what the prophecy said, too. So, as you can guess, they weren't very wanted or welcomed by other gods, or in some cases, other demigods.

I liked Percy... NO, not in that way. What I meant is that he's a good person, and he's not mean, or a bully. He might not be the brightest mind on Earth, but he wasn't dumb, either. He was good at sword fighting, which could come in handy. I didn't mind going on a quest with him, it even might have been my only chance. The only problem was that his father was one of my mother's greatest enemies. Poseidon. They have been rivals for over a thousand years, which meant I had to try to hate Percy now, and he was good, which made it even harder. Me being friends with Percy was like saying Athena's cabin would become allies with the Ares cabin for the next capture the flag game.

The next morning, they moved Percy to cabin three.

His schedule changed, but I still had to give him Ancient Greek classes in the mornings, yet I couldn't concentrate. It's as if everything he said came back to my failed plan: him getting a quest and me going with him. I couldn't just go with the son of Poseidon for a quest... or could I? I really didn't want to, but what if that was my only chance of going out to the mortal world? I dropped the idea and started thinking of new ways I could get a quest while doing my chores.

Someone had summoned that monster into camp, and most demigods didn't feel safe anymore. Who was it? And why had they done it?

That night, I had a weird dream. I was on some sort of beach. There were big dark clouds in the sky, heavy rain pouring down, and strong wind. The waves were huge and they splashed intensely on the sand. The sky and the sea seemed to merge near the horizon, which was full of fog. Out of nowhere an eagle appeared, flying in the storm. A few seconds later, a beautiful white horse materialized in the sand. Both the animals seemed to be fighting. Then I realized that there was thunder, lots of it, but no lightning... no lightning. A horrible idea started forming in my mind as I started connecting the dots. The horse was trying to kick the eagle out of the air as it tried to harm it, but the eagle just came diving back.

For some reason, I knew I needed to stop the fight, but when I tried to take a step towards them, I realized I was buried with sand till my knees. I tried to get my feet out, but that just seemed to make the sand harder around me. I started sinking deeper and deeper until I was covered up to my shoulders. Suddenly the ground opened right in front of me, the cracks becoming larger and larger until it became some sort of chasm, only that this one made my hair stand and it was full of darkness. I started struggling harder to get out of the sand, when suddenly laughter came from somewhere under the earth, and a voice so deep and full of evil and hatred it turned my blood to ice.
