                                                                               Maxine

Sound fills my ears as I walk into my first class since spring break. I glance my eyes over the crowd in the classroom until my eyes fall upon the group at the back of the classroom. The group that sends shivers down my spine to the point that it makes me feel nausea, the group that make me feel as if I'm nothing. As if I shouldn't even be here in this school. The group who act as if I'm a freak for keeping a 4.0 GPA.

Their laughter fill the air and it annoys me to the max that they can just laugh and act like it's nothing. Like everything in their life is perfect. I use to be filled with joy when I heard their laughter but now it just let's me know how much of a failure I've become. How much better they're doing without me. I guess you can say I'm a little annoyed of how much better they are at High School then me, while I'm looking over my shoulder every 5 minutes to make sure I don't get today's lunch thrown over my head.

I quickly pull out of my trance and make my way to my desk two from the front and the farthest away from the three at the back, trying to stay invisible. Will, Isabelle and Blake use to be my best friends along with a few other's but it seems only a few of us can get along now. Thanks to Skylar Grace Harrison.

Blake, Will and Isabelle became people they promised, no vowed they would never become. The teens who relied on their bank accounts that are run by their parents to get them through life but I guess they couldn't help but do just that. They're like...pathological liars. Well...Skylar is.

"Guess who's back?" I hear a sultry voice that makes me tense and makes me close my eyes tightly out of fear. I pull my cardigan closer to my body out of habit, trying to make myself unseen but I guess that doesn't help her. I guess it gives her a bigger advantage. "Miss me Maxie?" The girl with the messy brown hair, black high-waisted leather like shorts, with her cross muscle tank-top tucked in like the perfect badass model.

I could smell her Rihanna perfume as she leaned down over my desk, her grandmother's gold necklace dangling in my face.  I slowly looked up at her and nodded, it was probably a lie I'll always tell her. I absolutely loved when she skipped a day so I could get a day away from her tortue; but looking up at her face I noticed a crack in her lip that was coved in a plae pink lipstick. She looked more intimidating then she did when she left. "H-How could I not?" I voiced after I found it.

She sent me her half smirk letting me know that she knew I was lying. She turned her back to me and walked up to the group that she kept in contact with, her knee-high boots clicking the concrete floor as she walked away. I looked behind me in time to see her arm snake around Will's waist and lean across to place a kiss on Blake's cheek. To my surprise it didn't leave the plae pink lip mark on his cheek.

When her arm left Will's waist and his snaked around Isabelle's and his eyes dulled, my stomach dropped. I could feel my heart in my throat. I felt like I was in elementary school again. Will badgering me about how much he liked her but, to Skye, he was always just a friend and I'm almost 100 percent sure that he'll always be that. A friend.

"Jealous much?" Rose - my best friend - asked playfully from the desk in front of me. Her black hair straightened to a pin framing her round pale face perfectly.

"Not, Not at all. I mean, why would I like him? He's like the most obnoxious person I know," I lie through my teeth and take one more look oever my shoulder before turning back to Rose. "Ready for the first day back? Ready to deal with the devil?"

Rose came to my rescue after a mishap at a field trip last year. I ended up rooming with Isabelle, Skylar, and Sierra. Three of the girls I hate the most. Rose made up an excuse to my supervisor and got me in the room with her while Maria - one of the girls who were in the room with Rose - was put in the room with Skylar, Sierra, and Isabelle. Ever since then me and Rose have been attached at the hip. Hypothetically of course.
