The water turned like the wind, softly hitting the shore but causing nothing short of a hurricane in the middle of the ocean. Lightning flashed across the sky, seeming to pierce the clouds in half. She took her last breath, holding it in her lungs as long as she could. They hurt like fire, burning a hole straight through her heart, like how she knew they would feel once they discovered what had happened. The last sliver of oxygen escaped her lips and she went numb. Her ears were ringing... All there was, was silence. She hit the sandy, dark floor with a muffled thud, and her wedding ring slipped off her cold, lifeless finger into the unforgiving ocean.

He watched in horror as she fell. There was nothing he could do. She was gone. He swam to the surface, and ran up the beach, collapsing as soon as he hit sand. He looked up at the angry sky and screamed, nothing even audible, he just screamed at the sky, letting all of the energy his anger had given him escape. The lightning cracked angrily, as if it was answering the distraught widow's screams. He dug his elbows into the moist sand, and slammed his face into his palms.
