The prompts used for this chapter are: Visit a Haunted House and Face/Overcome a Fear. Please enjoy my lovelies.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I have always believed in ghosts and stuff like that. I've always been afraid of such things as well. For as long as I can remember, my best friend has pestered me about facing my fears. I haven't told him yet that I have finally decided to do exactly that. That was my New Year's resolution.
There was a haunted house at the end of my street that was well known for supernatural happenings. I knew all the stories about it because of my best friend. He has always been into those kinds of things. School started a week ago and everyday walking home I had a full view of that house. I kept telling myself that one day I would walk up to that house and not fear what might happen.
"Hey!" My friend patted me on the back. "Have you ticked off any of your resolutions yet?"
"Well some I guess." I responded.
"I have one I still want to really do before the end of the week. Do you want to join me?"
"That depends on what your resolution is, Matt."
"Oh come now scaredy-Kat. My resolution is to enter that haunted house and spend the night." Matt grins.
I felt like he was reading my mind in a sense. I wanted to tell him he was crazy and that I wouldn't join his suicide mission. As much as I wanted to back out I knew I would eventually tell him that I wanted to face my fears.
"Okay I'll go with you." I said.
Matt looked at me shocked as ever. "Really scaredy-Kat?"
That nickname annoyed me and it just made me more cemented in my choice. He knew it got under my skin and it was part of the reason I decided on facing my fears as a resolution. I looked at Matt and nodded with a smile.
"This weekend?" Matt asked.
"This weekend." I nodded.
*~*~*
So here we are standing outside of the haunted house. I took a few deep breaths trying to calm my nerves. Matt reassured me as we approached the front doors.
"Not going to run away yet scaredy-Kat?" Matt teased.
"I told you to stop calling that Matt." I frowned.
"Fear has two meanings, scaredy-Kat." Matt grinned. "Now lets not Forget Everything And Run. Instead let's Face Everything And Rise, together."
I laughed at Matt's attempt at being a philosopher. He was always a goofy character. That night I hardly slept. My fear kept telling me to run, but I wasn't about to leave Matt alone. Some time during the night I had eventually fallen into a peaceful sleep. I woke up wrapped in Matt's arms.
Who would have known facing my fears with my best friend would have made him my boyfriend. Our relationship has grown, but his weird nicknames for me haven't stopped.
"Hey Kitty-Kat." Matt smiled, kissing my cheek.
"I still hate your stupid nicknames." I pouted.
