Break ups are always hard. It's even harder when you've been left at the altar. I should know because that's what happened to me. My friends always told me I should be careful. Up until last month I always brushed them off claiming to know exactly what I was getting myself into. Life has always been tough for me since my 'kind' of people aren't widely accepted. Still I thought I was invincible because I was never ashamed of who I was.

"Quinn. How have you been?"

I looked up from my coffee. "Oh hey Dean. I'm as good as I'll ever be."

Dean shook his head. "No girl, you need a vacation. So the boys have put together something for you."

I looked over Dean's shoulder to see my other friends. I raised an eyebrow as I was ushered towards the car. Dean didn't say anything until I was standing in the middle of a circle. He made me face him and handed me a gift bag. As I turned to each of my friends they did the same thing.

"Okay, what is this? I'm perfectly fine." I huffed.

"Of course you are. We're just making it better."

"You sound like a crazy person Elijah." I frowned.

"Come on, it's almost Christmas..."
"And since you won't be spending either Christmas or New Year..."
"With us or your family..."
"We decided to give you our gifts now." My friends all said in turn.

I was even more confused. "What are you talking about?"

"Open them and you'll see."

I opened each gift in the order they were given to me. There was a plane ticket, a thick jacket, a camera, thick gloves, a new pair of boots, a couple hundred bucks in a leather wallet, a reservation confirmation letter, and a spa coupon to a place I've never heard of. I looked at the plane ticket again and gasped.

"Are you guys insane or just pulling a cruel prank?" I frowned.

"Neither. We figured you just needed some time away."

"So you book me a ticket to Alaska?" I asked.

"You've always wanted to go. Everything is set up already. If you don't want to..."

"Don't be stupid Zane, of course I want to." I rolled my eyes. "Thank you guys."

"And hey if you meet any hot chicks no one will judge you for enjoying their company."

We all laughed. I was blessed to have such accepting friends. After all, they considered me one of the boys. When I told them I was lesbian we joked about it and they weren't bothered much. They even helped me meet girls.

I went on the trip. Had the best time of my life and got a tattoo. One that symbolized my pride. It wasn't just a tacky rainbow, but one with two females kissing underneath it. I only got back after the new year as my friends had said I would.
