It was a very cold night and I got nobody to be with. I'm out in the wilderness with my rifle but I felt lifeless each step I take. I wanted to shoot myself but I felt like something kept stopping me from pulling the trigger on myself. I walk into a farmhouse as I lay down and look up at the sky, I feel tears streaming down my eyes. I can't move. I feel like a lifeless corpse that's been dead and rotten for over 18 years. All I wanted to do was sit here until I die. There's no more hope for me, no more hope. "H-hey there leej nus (Meaning: Leej Nus is how Hmong girls back then call guys they don't know or any guys who aren't apart of their family)." I finally snapped back to reality when I heard a voice calling me. I then look around me still laying down to see a figure walking close to me. As the figure got closer to me, I can see more of the details on that figure. It's a girl. She was wearing a long white dress, long straight black hair, green eyes, and her dimples show when she smiled. Was I dreaming? Is she the angel that God sent to come to get me? She got closer and closer before saying "Hey there leej nus, why do you seem so sad sitting here all by yourself?" I couldn't even talk or move at all, I felt too lifeless or worthless to even say a word. She then giggled at my sight then said "It's ok if you don't reply, but I saw you lying here all alone and I couldn't help it but wanting to come and talk to you." I just stare at her lifeless, not even sure if she's real or not. "Hey leej nus, please don't be sad like this, you're making me feel sad too." She says. How is she talking like this to me, I feel like I'm dead and this girl is just talking to a corpse, I can't even talk or reply back anymore. She then smiles and says "Do you know that I've seen you coming here since you were a little kid? I'm not lying, when you were still 10 years old, I saw you coming here with a group of family. I saw that they were treating you horribly. So horrible that it made you cry your tears out every night." I finally swallowed my saliva and was able to come back to my senses once again. "I understand that you don't know me and you're probably too scared to say anything because you're afraid that you will lose someone again like how you lost your grandpa." She continued. My eyes widened as I heard her say that. How did she know about me and Grandpa Va? Is she a stalker? "Y-you wouldn't wanna know." I finally talked in a quiet tone as I got up to sit and looked down at my lap. She lifted her eyebrows up and looked at me. "I-I can't." I was about to continue and broke into tears but she pushed my head into her chest. "Shhh it's ok, I know that you've been through too much that you can't talk anymore but don't worry." She says calmly while hugging me and having my face into her chest. "Because now I will be here by your side to protect you and be the person you need, Cheenou." I felt waters flooding down my eyes as I heard those words before slowly falling asleep and not knowing what happened.
