While walking the halls you saw the Griffindor trio sulking about. You walked up to them.

"Hey. Whats wrong?" The two boys whipped around.

"What's wrong? Maybe the fact that your little friend Draco's father had Buckbeak sentenced to death!" Your eyes widened.

"What? Sure Draco is a bit whiney but he'd never want him dead."

"Either way his father convinced the ministry that Buckbeak is too dangerous to keep alive. Hes going to be executed." Your heart sank.

"I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over him. I'll talk to him. It might not change anything but I can try." You ran off to find Draco. He was sitting in the great hall at a table with some other Slytherin students.

"Draco can I talk to you for a minute?" He looks up and nods.

"Well talk." You cross your arms.

"Alone?" He rolls his eyes and walks with you to the hallway.

"What is it?" You smacked his arm.

"First off, why are being a git? Is Crabb and Goyle more important then one of your best friends?"

"Well my father heard I've been, as he put it, getting soft. So I'm trying to be more like he wants."

"Does that include having Buckbeak killed." His eyes widened.

"Well...no but it hurt me and my father said-" you cut him off.

"Who cares what your father said Draco. That is an amazing creature that is now going to be killed because you couldn't handle Harry being good at something. I need time to cool my head. Come talk to me when you've grown up some." You stomped off.

It had been weeks since you've talked to Draco. You've spoken with Blaize a few times but thats it. You spent most of your time with the trio, Cedric, or in your room. Hermione had noticed your closeness to Lupin more so than the other teachers and got curious. The two of you sat alone in the parlor area.

"You're close to Professor Lupin right?" The question startled you.

"Yeah. Why?" She fiddled with her fingers.

"Well how close are you?" Her brows furrowed. You thought for a moment.

"Well...he's like a father to me. He knows more about me then most people. He's helped me through a lot. But again, why?" She sighed deeply.

"I'm only going to tell you this because I care about you. You're my friend. Do you remember the assignment Snape gave when he substituted for DA?"

"Yeah. I do. About werewolves and how to spot them."

"Yes. Well, you know how I am. I notice things others don't." You hummed in agreement.

"I saw the signs Y/N. All the signs saying that Professor Lupin is a werewolf." You felt as thought your heart had stopped.

"And you're sure about this?" She nodded sadly.

"Have you told anyone?"

"No. I haven't. He seems to be doing fine." You released a breathless you didn't know you were holding.

"Thank you. Please don't. He's the only family I've got." She gave a small smile.

"Of course. I quite like him teaching as well." The two of you hugged and went your separate ways. You thought about confronting Lupin. But the idea quickly left your mind. If he wanted you to know, he'd tell you.

~

Months pass and its the time of the execution. You feel awful that you could do nothing to stop it. The trio had gone to see Hagrid but you just sat in the hall staring into the court yard enjoying nature. Soon you hear hurried steps, more like running. Draco and two of his followers come barreling around the corner.

"What are you running about for?" You cross your arms. Draco pauses and you see the bloody nose.

"Damn. Ho did that?" One of the other two pipe up in Draco's silence.

"That mudblood and her stupid friends." Both you and Draco glare at them and the other two run off.

"I don't like you and your 'friends' calling her that. She has a name." He looked to the side at your scrutiny. You sigh.

"Go to the infirmary. You're getting blood on the floor." You grab your things and walk to the great hall. You spent the rest of the day with Cedric. Making jokes and having fun.

~

The next morning came fast and with bad news. You ran as fast as you could to Lupin's office.

"Good morning Y/N."

"You're really leaving?" He sighed.

"Yes. I've resigned. People know about...well."

"That you're a werewolf." He seemed slightly surprised.

"How long have you known?"

"Hermione told me. Wanted to keep me safe."

"She is a smart witch. You don't seem to care."

"You didn't care about my secret. Why would I care about yours?" You smiled at eachother. Tears soon misted your eyes and he opened his arms. You ran into him and hugged him.

"What am I going to do while you're gone. You're the only family I have." He patted your head.

"I'll write you. I'll keep in touch. Please be safe, Little Moon. You're like a son to me. I don't want you getting hurt. Or in to trouble." You laughed and wiped the tears away. He riffled through his pockets.

"Here, eat this. You'll feel better." You took the bar and laughed.

"Chocolate, of course." You both spoke at the same time.

"Chocolate fixes everything."
