Opposites Attract

Chapter Two

-Alice-
Alice bit her lip as she walked to her locker. So many other students were staring at her in shock. Alice knew today would be tough but she never thought that it would be this hard. The stares were killing her. They knew what she did to herself ever since that day..that horrible day. Shuddering at the memory, she kept her head down and walked to her first classroom. Alice snuck her way past a few kids she didn't recognized and sat down in the back seat. Fiddling with her sleeves nervously as she saw them walk in. The three most popular girls in the school. Megan, Cali, and Danni. They were the ones who organized most of the attacks Alice was put through. They were the ones who let her secret habit go through the whole school. It didnt help the fact the whole school was underneath their fingertips. But the ringleader was Megan. Every boy wanted her, every girl wanted to be her. She was bleach blonde with blue eyes, she wore the best and most expensive clothes. Her parents were happily married and rich.....everything Alice wasnt and that made her a target. Danni muttered something then pointed at Alice and giggled softly. Alice quickly stared down and began to doodle in her notebook. Her only outlet from the painful world until she got home alone.
-Cole-
Cole smirked as he walked into Science behind Jack. Jack chuckled as he sat down in the back of the classroom.

"Dude, stop daydreaming and come sit!" Jack shouted at Cole as cole stood there looking out the window.

He chuckled and sat down beside his new best friend. He brushed his fingers through his blonde locks as the teacher, Mr.Borris, began a boring lecture on how important the class was for the students. Cole leaned his face and against his cheek and began to get lost in his thoughts. But they kept going back to the curly haired girl that was standing on the steps. Cole wondered why they laughed at her. She seemed so shy.. so innocent. She was different then all the other girls. Cole looked over at Jack who was idiotically balancing a pencil on his nose. Cole cleared out his throat which caused Jack to dropped his pencil.

"What?!" Jack asked in a harsh whisper as he shot a glare at Cole.

"You never told me about that girl..ya know the one with the curly hair." Cole replied as he looked at the teacher pretending to pay attention.

"Oh the orphan," Jack said causing Cole to look over at him in shock. "Well thats what everyone calls her, I think her names A-um-Alice. Shes a nobody that Megan tortures. She's actually a sweet girl, I've seen her a few times taking care of the other orphaned children" Jack said as he passed Cole a packet the teacher was giving out for work.

"Why does Megan bother her? She doesnt seem to do anything." Cole said trying to defend the girl he barely knew But why, he hadnt even talked to the girl. Yet, there was something about her that caused Cole to be so interested.

"She is a nobody..and worse of all Megan has the whole school against that girl," Jack said as he began to try and fill out the packet. Cole was already halfway done with the second page. "I feel kinda bad for her, but theres nothing we can do since the whole school found out about her."

Cole raised a brow in wonder. "What do you mean?" he asked as he clicked his mechenical pencil a few times and continued to write out the equations.

"Well before winter break, something happened and everyone saw her scars," Jack said quietly as he pointed to his wrist. "She has tons...I think she does it because she has no one. No friends, No parents, no one. Whoever becomes her friend will probaby be tortured by Megan too. So dont get any herioc ideas mister. So far youre the only non-asshole or cheater Ive been met here."Jack smirked and went back to his work.

Cole sighed softly as he looked down at the equations. He felt sorry for that Alice girl. After a few moments of thinking about her and what Jack had told him, he had decided if he had a chance to speak to her he would try to become her friend. Due to certain experience, he knew no one deserves to be alone and hurt. Cole took a deep breath and finished the last problem in the packet as soon as the bell rang for next period.

-Alice-
Alice looked up at the board as the teacher wrote down the notes for the next test. Alice quickly scribbled them in her notebook. She whimpered as she got hit in the face with a paper ball. As soon as she looked up, she saw Danni and some other boy giggling and chuckling at Alice. The girl sighed heavily and sunk back in her chair.

"I guess this class is still the same.. but the day is still young and a lot more new students moved here.." Alice muttered quietly to herself.

She prayed that this semester would be different then all the others. Alice was tired of being alone, It didnt help that she knew she was too old to be adopted. She just hoped the other younger kids got families before they went through the hell she did. The teacher, Mrs.Lester, handed out the classwork to the students. Alice reached into her bag and grabbed her purple pen and began to fill in the answers. She fiddled with her sleeves as she did her work. Rubbing her wrists as she felt the three wicked witches staring her down. 'Probably coming up with more ways to torment me.' Alice thought to herself as she blinked her eyes a few times. Alice finished all five papers Mrs.Lester handed out to everyone. Alice has a few extra minutes which she took to plan the rest of the day. Next class was English, then lunch, the math, then history , then she could go home. Alice decided to travel from classroom as quickly as possible to lower the possibilities of her getting bullied. Eat Lunch in the library so no one would pour their lunches on her like usual. Alice knew she had to stay silent and only speak when a teacher requested. The bell rung loudly claiming that the period ended. Alice gathered her things and stayed back.

"Hey Orphan, wanna come walk with us when you're not too busy digging through the trash for new clothes?" Megan called out to Alice causing the remaining classroom to burst out giggling and chuckling.

Alice bit her lip hard almost causing it to bleed. She clenched the strap of her messenger bag as she rushed out into the hallway. She went around all the other students trying not to bump into any. Alice gasped as someone tall bumped into her.

"Sorry." Alice said quickly as she glanced up seeing an unfamiliar blonde male. Alice raised a brow as he stared at her for moments without saying a word.

"Yeah, I know Im ugly. Sorry for scarring your eyes." Alice rolled her eyes, used to people calling her ugly and many other harsh words.

The boy, Cole, stood there in shock for a few moments. "Wait..no..thats-"

"Cole! Dont talk to her. Shes a freak." Daniel, Megans boyfriend said as he put his hand on Coles shoulder.

Alice saw sympathy flash in the blue orbs that were the new boys eyes, Coles. She frowned heavily and rushed into her English room. She sat down in the back of the classroom and took a deep breath. Alice watched as the other students piled into the classroom. Her heart skipped a beat as Cole walked into the classroom. His eyes seemed to light up as he spotted her. Alice quickly looked out the window trying to ignore him. She heard someone sit down beside her, which was very unusual. She glanced over spotting the blonde boy sitting there. Alice frowned heavily thinking it was a plan just to have him torture her for their entertainment, little did she know his true intentions.
