The day when by painstakingly slowly. You weren't picked for the group date and then you had to fill your time in other ways. You spent most of your time on your laptop in your room. You didn't wanna run the risk of anyone seeing you out in the hallways. Vicki was out on the group date and you weren't keen on talking to anyone left in the house besides Alfred.
You did end up sneaking out around noon to steal some cookies from the kitchen. Turns out your sneaking has not improved much because Alfred caught you before you'd even laid hands on a cookie. "Good afternoon (Y/N),"
"Hey Alfred," you said, pretending you hadn't been trying to steal cookies to eat away your feelings.
"Although I'm told my cookies don't disappoint, but if you don't mind my asking, have you had anything else to eat today?"
"Not besides breakfast," you admitted, trying to make your escape.
"That just won't do! Sit down, I'll make you some lunch,"
"Oh, no, that's okay. I'll be fine,"
"I insist, it'll only take a moment," Alfred said, already grabbing supplies for a sandwich,
You accepted defeat and sat down at the counter, stealing a couple of cookies on your way there. Alfred was right, his cookies did not disappoint, especially not these. Within a couple of minutes, Alfred put a sandwich in front of you.
"Thank you, Alfred," you said bitting into the sandwich. It was delicious just like everything Alfred made.
You and Alfred talked awhile as you ate. Like everyone else who'd known about the situation, he asked about Bruce. You did your best to not get too deep into it. You didn't really want to think about it as you were enjoying lunch. And you especially didn't want to think about later tonight.
Emotions were messy and you weren't entirely sure which ones you were currently feeling. You weren't sure if you were legitimately angry at Bruce or just riled up at what Redhood had said. Redhood had defiantly played a part in your current jumble of emotions but you weren't sure if he was the entire reason or not.
If Redhood hadn't mentioned anything about you being used for bait would Bruce have ever told you? Would he have just let you believe that it was all a coincidence? You were starting to realize truly how little you knew about Bruce.
It was almost a little funny when you thought about it. You probably knew one of Bruce's biggest secrets but you didn't have a clue how his mind worked. Sure, he was a logical person but how much empathy was factored into that logic? Why the hell was it so hard to figure him out even a little bit? It was all just a lot and you weren't dealing with it as well as you might've liked to.
Once you'd finished lunch you quickly excused yourself and went back up to your room. You decided if you were going to talk with Bruce tonight you were going to look damn fine doing it. Focusing all your energy on your appearance you put on your favorite outfit. You looked elegant as hell and you took a good 15 minutes admiring yourself in the mirror.
By the time you'd gotten ready it was getting pretty late but you didn't want to head to the movie room quite yet. You sat on your bed for a moment to contemplate your feelings. Not those about recent events but your feeling towards Bruce as a person. You thought about him for a while and came to the following conclusions about him.
Firstly, he was quite handsome and you were indeed attracted to him. Secondly, despite current events, you did want things to work out between the two of you and you were quite fond of him. Lastly, you did think he genuinely cared for you, he was just shit at showing it.
