chapter one .
the one with the new resident .SHE WAS INCAPABLE of finding love. no one in her hometown of [h/t/n] appealed to her. they were all so... beige. beige is a color. an awfully dull color, which is why it fit the residents so much.
there were attractive people, rude people, and a shit ton of normal people. it was that one word that brought them together. beige.
her parents had passed away years ago, as well as her other family members. she missed them, yes, but she was sure they didn't miss the poor girl. [y/n] had no intention of missing them, but the feeling clung onto her every now and then.
she craved adventure. real life was far too normal. [y/n] wanted to live in a romcom. a horror movie. she wanted her life to be colorful with teenage curiosity. [h/t/n] wasn't going to do that on it's own.
so she searched up unique places at the local library. there were many odd states and towns, but there was one that stood before the rest. the murder capital of the world, santa carla. [y/n] read a couple stories on it due to the computers. there was a decent amount of folks who went missing there. the posters were always stapled over each other.
perfect! [y/n] thought. this place is literally where a horror movie would take place.
[y/n] wrote down how much it would be to move there. with the plane ticket and apartment, she would still have half of savings. and so, it was settled. heading out of the library, [y/n] quit the graveyard shift at the local coffee shop.
i really hope i don't regret this.

"you're really moving?" [y/n]'s neighbor, a girl the same age as her asked.
the girl had circular black glasses that sat atop her slightly crooked nose. her almond colored hair was always in a bob hairstyle. the girl, whose name was kathleen, looked like she was a sixties sitcom actress. she lived in the same apartment as [y/n]. only two doors away.
"where?" kathleen inquired.
"um, santa carla. it's not such a big deal though, kathy." [y/n] tried to keep her quiet, fore the girl had a very loud personality.
[y/n] stood awkwardly outside her door with this girl, who desperately needed a makeover. she held herself, her keys in her left hand as she listened to kathleen rant unwillingly.
"hey! that's where michael emerson and his family moved to, y'know. maybe you can see him! god, i wish i could move there," kathleen's lips wouldn't stop moving, but [y/n] only payed attention to about half of the conversation, "he was really cute. great body, cute hair, and his mom was super nice! my mom is really crabby. she doesn't stop talking, like, everyday! hey, how's your mo-"
"kathleen," [y/n] interrupted, "i-i got chores to do. i'm really sorry."
"oh, don't be!" kathleen replied, seemingly unphased. "catch you later!"
"uh, bye?"
[y/n] headed inside quickly, packing her belongings in cardboard boxes. fashion magazines, family heirlooms, and almost everything in her tiny apartment.
she packed for hours, going through six whole rolls of duct tape as she beared with a now swore hand. her home wasn't that decorated to begin with, but now, she saw how spacious it once was. maybe she had more belongings than she remembered.

drinking coffee, she had finally made it to santa carla. everyone here seemed interesting, which was fine with [y/n]. you had biker gangs, groups of odd teens, and insomniacs who roamed the boardwalk in search of a fun way to pass the time.
the moon was hung up into the sky, and [y/n] drank her coffee faster, not wanting to grow tired. the boardwalk was home to many carnival games and prizes, something that [h/t/n] didn't have. looking around, she decided to go on a peaceful ride. the carousel.
she bought a ticket and sat down on a horse, sitting sideways. she truly did not want to straddle the faux pony like a child would. [y/n] wore a tiny smile. everyone was having fun, and she seemed to fit right in.
that was, until a group of boys hopped onto the ride as well. everyone stared at them, no smiles evident on their faces while doing so. they wore punk rock attire, which [y/n] had to admit, was incredibly attractive.
"look boys, someone new." [y/n] froze when one of them saw her.
"uh-" she didn't have time to respond before the boy with platinum blond hair spoke again. "what brings you to santa carla, sweethe-"
he didn't speak. even the three boys behind him were confused. [y/n] gulped, watching as the male in the trench coat studied her with a rough gaze.
eager to leave the boardwalk now, she uttered out a quick 'goodbye' before walking away.
he kept watching her, as well the three others now too. she walked to her apartment, her heart beating with anxiousness.
and now, i think i regret this.
a/n : sorry , this was kinda dry 😔
