If first day jitters were a disease, I'd be dead right now. It's my first day at my new school, Shady West High. Being the new kid is never easy, especially if your like me. My name is Naomi and I am just a 18 year old from California with a long history of bad luck and bad events. But I moved across the country for a reason. My parents died last month in a car accident. Of course the event was tragic, but it's the only thing on my mind all the time. Now it's just me, my older brother Stephen and my aunt Sarah. I miss my parents and my friends from California dearly, but I guess it's time to move on, to make new friends.
"Do I have to go, can't I just stay home and have you homeschool me?" I ask my aunt while putting my jacket on.
"Oh come on, it's not that bad." Stephen says, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. He always knows how to cheer me up when I'm down. Ever since I was two, he always was my best friend, we do everything together. But he's always the cooler one, he always knows how to make friends and have a good time."Plus, I'm one phone call away if you need me for anything."
"Thanks, Stephen" I reply back. I know he was trying to cheer me up but it wasn't working today. "I know I'll be able to make new friends though" I say to my aunt Sarah. She decided to let us live with her after my parents died. She was a great influence on my life when I was younger also.
"If and when you do make friends, Invite them over sometime." She said. Our house was HUGE. Aunt Sarah has her own line of beauty products from conditioners to concealers to lipsticks, she's rich, but doesn't like to overdo it, she saves her money, but her house has 10 bedrooms and 9 1/2 bathrooms, a pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna, and a mini bar.
Suddenly me and Stephen look at the clock, I'm almost late. "Ok Naomi, you gotta go if you don't wanna be late for your first day!" Aunt Sarah says to us. "Give you aunt a goodbye hug." She opens her arms, inviting me. As we're about to walk outside the door she says "And Naomi... Don't forget to try to make friends."
"Don't worry Aunt Sarah, I won't forget." I say as I walk out the door. I get into Stephens car with him. He drives a nice Mercedes that Aunt Sarah bought him for his 18th birthday. Before my parents died.
"So Naomi, are you scared for your first day?" Stephen asks while driving down the road. He's looking straight ahead at the road, but his mind is focused on me.
"I'm terrified, Stephen!" I say louder than I intended to. The car immediately stops to a halt.
"Listen Naomi," he says with his usual calm voice "I know your still in pain from mom and dads death, but we have to learn to leave the past behind us. Think about the future ahead, ok?" He asks nicely.
Quietly I nod "Ok" I whisper. We drive in silence the rest of the way until we arrive at Shady West High...

That's the end of chapter one. I will find people who will portray Stephen and Aunt Sarah later. My updates usually don't take long, maybe every two day or up to a week depends on when I'm not busy. I know the chapter is short, bear with me. Which would you prefer:
A) shorter chapters in shorter time
B) longer chapter in longer time
