THE TRIAL OF PATIENCE ( link x reader )

The Foundling

*this scene takes place about 120 years before sapphire wakes up to find hyrule in ruins*

            As the day marches on, the sun has finally started to set and reflects its luminous glow upon hyrule. The grass as green as can be, The cooling breeze causes the flowers to sway side to side. The captain of the royal guard raises his hand and gives his soldiers the signal to stand at ease. All the soldiers collapsed to the ground due to exhaustion of their long and painful commute. And this commute was none like any other, from hyrule castle to east of Rauru Hillside was the location of the military training camp run by a solider named Rubeo. Oh! how the soldiers hated that camp they despised it, as much as they did for the instructor. But an order was an order and they spent two weeks in what they call  "The camp of misery."  For those two treacherous weeks the soldiers endured unimaginable pain from walking up to cold water dumped on their face to what seemed like endless hours of sparring that caused aches and pains all over their bodies. Some even passed out because it was that intense, The camp was similar to a reality check for others to have them be sure if that was the life they wanted. A reminder that war out on the field wasn't a walk in the park, that it needs to be taken seriously or they will without a doubt die. Surprisingly enough it also gave the soldiers hope at the same time, knowing the sacrifices they make will give their love ones more time to live their lives in peace and with pride. Thankfully those horrible days where over and all were heading back home...

             Suddenly the captain turned around to face his men sadly he had to look down since they were on the floor. He smiled and spoke with a tired voice but loud enough so the rest in the back can hear  'This seems like a nice place to rest you all have surely earned it.' In response to his announcement he received grumbles and relieved sighs even heard a couple of yeses here and there. He laughed lightly, he didn't want to admit it but he was feeling light headed and tired as well thus causing him to clap his hands "Alright you fearsome warriors time to set up camp, we are half way to the castle so lets rest and start our journey tomorrow understood ?" In unison all of his troops yelled out with the little energy they can muster "YES SIR". A couple of minutes passed and the camp was finally set, the sky completely dark by the time they finished and showed the beautiful white moon upon their tired faces. Some of the men went to a near by pond to shower and relax. Some didn't even waste anytime and slept , the rest sat by the fire cooking and told stories, an occasional song was sung every once in a while. When all of them ate and were content they prepared for their slumber, saying goodnight to each other they all slept peacefully with their families in mind and wide smiles. In the middle of the night a solider named Arn was awoken by a faint sound that sounded similar to a baby crying? Arn not happy knowing the child could be in danger, he got up grabbed his sword and followed the faint cry deep into the woods. To his surprise it was a baby, a baby so small not close to being a week old in a cabin alone with the door wide open, the newborn cried even louder due to being startled by him. He gasped in disbelief thinking "why? why are you alone? where is your mother? " 

                He walked to the child and carried it ,his eyes watered looking at the crying infant reminded him of his own baby who he name link. Snapping back into reality he walked out of the cabin hoping to find the parents of the wailing child seeing no one remotely close to where the cabin was he walked inside and sat on the bed tying to calm the infant down. He proceeded to think "possibly the parents left to get food , maybe they left the baby here to secure it safety instead of taking the child with them?" Arn thinking that might be the case he stayed watching over the little one ... he achieved the one task of putting it back to sleep and evidently began the waiting game for the tired solider. Five hours have passed and he began to panic thinking the worst had happened he grabbed the sleeping baby and walked back to camp to tell the captain what has happened."If the parents are in danger "  he thought "I can't look for them with the baby with me ill drop off the baby at the camp and then go looking for them". Panting and tired he reached the camp and immediately woke up the captain with worry. Sloppily the captain grabbed his sword at pointed it at Arn ready to attack he realized it was one of his most trusted soldiers he sighed " Arn why did you wake me up I had the most amaz- why do you have a baby?" He looked at the captain in defeat and explained what happened. The captain listened he began to feel uneasy and woke up the troops "MEN WAKE UP THIS IS AN EMERGENCY" he ordered some troops to watch and guard the baby the rest were ordered to follow Arn and have him show the cabin along with having him explain what happened and to search for the babies parents. All of them were wide awake and determined, they all took their job seriously without fail always sympathizing With others to make sure everyone in hyrule felt safe and protected by them.

               As hours pass the sun began to rise slowly with no hope of finding either one they soon began to give up. As they started walking back to camp in defeat they heard one of the soldiers scream "I found them I found them!" With relief they ran to where the parents were found sadly they were too late. Arn looking at them he silently cried all he thought in his mind was he failed them and failed the child if only they were found sooner would the story be different? The troops lowered their heads as a sign of respect and made a burial for them both. Completely sad and devastated they proceeded to walk back to camp ready to take the child back to hyrule and inform the king of a new orphan and a sad memory.
