The Lost Foreigners Who Spoke Japanese

Chapter 1

The sound of a morning dove was cooing its beautiful song.

The kitten alarm clock read 5:24 AM. A cool glow touched the entrance of the window as the sky was purple, mixed with navy blue slowly turning orange. The room was dark, and the windows were blue. There was no sound other than morning cars driving by including the doves outside.

A young girl was sleeping in her bed or futon. Beside her small room, her older sister sleeps in her bedroom as well. The door was slightly open, as there was noise going on in the bathroom in the hallway.

The family's cat Mizuki was awake and walked into the young girls' bedroom. Made her way towards her. She walked up to her face, then sat on it.

It took a couple of moments, to wake up the young girl.

"What the?!" She said.

The cat stood up and set it aside, her owner was finally awake. She gets up on her knees and makes her way to her lamp. Switches her small light, her hand scatters to grab her large rim eyeglasses. She rubs her eyes and then applies her glasses.

This is 12-year-old Mayumi Takahashi, one of the younger siblings of the Takahashi family. She is very small, but a quick little girl. Has dark hair touching her shoulders. She is nearsighted so she is used to having eyeglasses all her life. Her mother is the same. She is a nice respectful girl, other than her older sister who seems to be a bit rebellious.

Her room was was pink and mint green. Filled with her toys and manga and posters of her favorite stuff. Having a hardwood floor, her bed is surrounded by a fuzzy collared carpet.

She stands up and slips on her fuzzy slippers. Makes her way to the bathroom, and wakes herself, with warm water. Brushes her teeth and takes a quick shower.

It was now 5:49, she was getting dressed. Her father, Kiyoshi Takahashi is already awake to leave for work. He works as a front desk clerk at a hotel near Tokyo.

Before heading out his wife Youko Takahashi has woken up. Luckily on time to give him a good morning kiss.

"Good Morning honey. Say have you eaten something?!" She asks.

He grabs his coat and hat, "not yet, don't worry I'll have some McDonald's when I get off my train alright Youko?"

"Well alright, don't want to keep you waiting, go on have a good day at work today see you in the afternoon honey!" Youko kisses him goodbye.

So do Kiyoshi and heads out the door. With his handbag and coat in one hand and his hat in the other, putting it on. He walks to the nearest train station, to catch the earliest so he won't mess up his schedule.

Youko goes to her bathroom, she finds Mayumi already getting ready for school. "Already awake! Wow, that's impressive, on a Monday too!" She says trying to congratulate her youngest daughter.

Mayumi turns around to her mom, "really, Muizuki is the one who woke me up, I thought she was hungry but she wasn't!" She said.

Mother started to giggle. "Well, Muizuki was looking out for you so you will be getting up early for school!"

"Well I guess so," said Mayumi.

"Since your up, go wake up your brother and sister, I'll get wash up to make breakfast okay," said mother. Mayumi gave a soft smile, "okay"

The mother went to get washed up and dressed. While Mayumi went to her older brother's room.

She slides the door open, "Daisuke...?" She whispers. No answer. Of course, he must be sleeping. Turns on the low lights. Quietly walking over to her brother, she finds him still asleep. Mayumi shakes his brother awake. "Wake up, Daisuke!" He still doesn't wake up, takes out his hand under the covers to shoo off the person trying to disturb his sleep.

Daisuke Takahashi is 14 years old, the only son of the family. He is a nice kid but quickly maturing. Of course, he loves the latest manga and Tv shows. He always hangs out with his friends, so most of the time he's outside. But he makes time for family.

As he rolls to one side the covers move over, Mayumi discovers a flashlight and manga under them beside him.

'He stayed up reading again, good grief' Mayumi thought. She grabbed the flashlight and the manga and took a closer look at the cover.

It read: ルパン三世 第1巻 {Lupin III: Volume 1}

'Looks like an old series' she thought. Turns it around and looks at the bottom, where it caught her eye, you need to be 16 or older to read it. Mayumi made a disgusted face. She stood up and put it on the desk near his backpack.

She went back to wake her up. Then he does, "Can you stop, for the love of god! I'm awake, I'm awake—-!" Daisuke paused. "Where my manga!" He whispers with concern.

"Oh, I put it on your desk" Responded Mayumi. "Oh gosh, you almost scared me, if mom finds it she'll ground me big time," Daisuke said, he was up and awake. "I know, then why do you have it?"

"Don't you see, My friend gave it to me on Friday, and I didn't have time all weekend so I decided to read it in bed, luckily I finished so he can give me the second volume" Explained Daisuke, he felt proud of himself.

"Gee, a whole volume in one night, that's cool," said Mayumi.

Daisuke head over to the bathroom, Mother was already getting dressed. It was time to wake her older sister.

Walking over to her older sister's bedroom, her door was closed. She slowly opens it and turns on the lights. Mayumi finds her sister Kumiko lying face down. She hops over to her and taps her to see if she can also wake up.

"Kumiko? Wake up! It's time to go to school!" She says.

Nothing. Mayumi rolls her over, and Kumiko's hair goes all over her face. Mayumi moves her hair and squishes her face, "Kumiko it's time for school!"

Kumiko Takahashi is an 18-year-old young female adult. The oldest sibling in the family. She tries to be a popular girl in school as well outside of school. Being in popular friend groups, she sometimes goes downtown to parties to hang out with her friends. She sometimes does sneak out at night to either go with her boyfriend or to some secret parties nearby.

Kumiko makes a face as she wakes up to find her little sister. She grunts, "come on! Can't you just leave me alone!"

"But it's time to get up," said Mayumi, trying her best to wake up her sister.

Kumiko brings her covers back upon her "Wake me up until it's Monday..." Mayumi looks at her sister slightly confused, "It is Monday"

Kumiko's eyes opened, "you're kidding!?" She got out of bed in hopping excitement, "OHHH yes my boyfriends back home! After what felt like weeks going to Canada! He's back home!" She cheerfully said.

Mayumi sits there, very confused at what just happened. She shrugs it off and gets on with herself. She suddenly feels hungry and goes to the kitchen if her mother is already there making breakfast to help her.
