Olives pov
*takes place 2 months after Olive defeats Bruce. Louis, Austin and Olive have returned to Olives house.*
I stepped up to the chair, next to Louis and Austin. The crowd had settled, each of them gripping their little tape recorders. Being away for so long, especially Louis being gone, gave time for the world to bottle up their curiosity and it was time to let it free. The questions fly at me but instead of deflecting them like I always had, I answered. And I answered some more, not caring what they thought or who would hear. This was my story, and I had to tell it.
"Do you expect us not to question what really happened! Tell us how you knew that man!" a women with a mic in the air screams. I sigh and push my hair out of my face.
"Ok. I understand. I have a confession." I say, causing the crowd to push closer, almost knocking the barrier.
"I am a F-" I start but am interrupted by Louis.
"Faculty worker at a factory!"
"No, Im going to tell them." I whisper to them. Austin quickly covers his mic and replies,
"But your an undercover agent, people will recognize you on missions!"
"I know." I say and lean into mic.
"Im not a factory worker. I am an FBI agent. Weird, I know." The crowd gasps and pushes their recording devices closer. "Before you bombard me with questions, let me finish. I never told you anything because I wanted to protect my job and myself. Im the reason that Austin and Louis went through what they did." I said, tilting my head down. My hair cascades into my face and Im about to continue but Austin quickly starts to defend me.
"You didn-" he starts.
"Don't lie to me!" I shout, standing abruptly. "I'm the one who did this, its my fault. I shouldn't have met any of you, and let you into my life! My reckless job destroys anybody I care about!" I stop for a moment and take a deep breath, nobody daring to interrupt.
"But.. now that I've met you.. I couldn't- I wouldn't change a thing." I say quietly. I look up, to the crowd and say with an unknown power behind me voice, "So I've decided that I'm quitting. I'm quitting my job as a FBI agent. I cant put those who I love in danger anymore; my life isn't just about me anymore." I take out my badge and hand it to my mother who was standing at the edge of the stage. She looks at me with watery eyes and a big heart warming smile.
The crowd claps and I sit down back in between the boys.
--later--
Im embraced by the whole FBI team, who quickly found out about me quitting. The create a path so I could exit the building, clapping as I pass. I grin at them and look longingly at the building I will no longer be required to show up to at 7 a.m. I drive off, taking an excessive amount of free donuts from the break room. I'll miss them (the agents, not the donuts... although the donuts will be missed) but not for a second do I regret my decision to protect my family. In a way, I guess I am still protecting the world... just my little one.
I return home and open the door. I grin widely, just feeling happy to have the weight lifted off my chest.
I drop my bag on the couch and walk into my kitchen. A blue fluff of hair is popping up from behind an open fridge door. I walk around to see the person, grinning widely.
Michael Clifford, not a smurf (like I'd thought), was rummaging through my fridge.
"What are you doin'?" I ask, letting out a laugh as he looks at me wide eyed.
"Um.. it was suppose to be a surprise... Ooops." he says, placing a sandwich and juice pouch on the table. I laugh and wrap my arms around the guy who just took my food. He pats my back while taking an annoying sip of the juice.
"Where are the others?" I ask. He took a bite of his sandwich and, muffled slightly, said,
"Probably in your closet upstairs."
I run up the stairs faster than you could say 'Oh shit'. I've got some of my prior mission stuff in there that could really use some quieting up about.
I run into my room and see Ashton admiring my desk pictures and Calum and Luke rummaging through my closet.
"Get out of there!" i yell and close the doors quickly. They smile innocently and say enthusiastically,
"Olive!" I roll my eyes at them but open my arms anyway. Calum and Luke take this as a pass and hug me tight. Ashton joins in and I grin. They all let go and Michael walks in with a pizza pocket,
"Seriously?" I ask and laugh as he shrugs.
We talked for a bit and I was so happy to see them that barely cared that they were all disappearing and coming back with a smudge of jelly or frosting on the corner of their mouths.
"When did you guys last eat?" I say, sighing.
"Early this morning." Calum admits, wiping his face on his sleeve.
"Go," I say and they all go running past me. I grin and shake my head at them. Boys. What do you do with them?
*later that day*
I watch as the boys drive off, waving to them. They heard what happened and just wanted to hang with me. It was fun being able to escape my life. Now that I think about it now... I guess Im pretty much the luckiest girl I know! I not only have a boyfriend but the 5sos boys also came to celebrate with me.
Austin, who had recently gotten back from physical therapy, wraps an arm around my waist and leads me inside.
We sit on the couch and he throws a blanket over us. He wraps his arms around me and I curl up into a little couch potato.
"I love you." I whisper, facing his neck.
"I love you too." he says and lays his head on mine.
There might always be another way...
but for the time being...
I never want to say goodbye to the boy I met wearing that My Chemical Romance shirt.
