Cecilia's little sister dragged her by her hand through the campsite to the beach. The wind blew directly into her face and through the pink strands of her hair.  In attempt to untangle them, she dragged her fingers through the knots as they came to a stop.

Cecilia watched as 5 year old Zoe waddled through the wet sand barefoot. The 17 year old sighed and adjusted the black tanktop on her upper body and folded her arms over her chest.
Her parents, her sibling and herself only arrived at the campsite 10 minutes ago and Cecilia already had to start on watching-her-sister duty.

It was not like she didn't enjoy being around her family, it was just that she really appreciated her personal space. Like, so much. And her social battery had to recharge ever so often too, and that whole process would be so difficult when she was living in an RV with her family for 10 days.

At least it wasn't just her family. Cecilia was happy to hear that the Knights, friends of her parents who had two kids as well, were going camping with them.
Their oldest kid was Awsten, who was 18 and who she had known forever. According to their parents, they had played in the same sandbox as kids. Awsten was a nice kid, unlike many other boys his age that Cecilia knew. He dyed his hair light blue and played the guitar pretty well.
Actually, when she had been around 14, he had tried to convince her to learn guitar with him, but she ended up only being able to manage a ukulele, because her hands were simply too small to reach around the frets.
Awsten had a younger sister too, Gracie. She was four years younger than him and in her prime teenage phase.
So, Cecilia would rather fill her time talking to Awsten.

After an hour, little Zoe was tired and Cecilia had to carry her on her shoulders back to the RVs. She handed her off to her mother, who was overly pleased at her for distracting the smaller girl while they had set up the tent in front of their RV.

When Cecilia was about to turn around to disappear into her bed, a tennis ball was chucked into her direction.

"Hey!", a boy-ish voice shouted.

It was Awsten, who was sitting at the small campfire which the Knights were in the middle of setting up. He leaned back in his camp chair and waved at Cecilia. Slightly hesitant, she stalked over to him and took a seat on the chair next to him.

"Hey.", she said and looked around and caught his mother just emerging from inside their RV.

"Hello, Mrs. Knight.", she greeted friendly.

"Oh! Cecilia, dear! It's so good to see you. You've changed so much since I've last seen you. Your hair is so pretty!", Ginny complimented easily.

"Thank you so much, it's good to see you too.", Cecilia replied.

"I was afraid, you weren't on this trip, because I didn't see you earlier.", Awsten chimed in.

"Oh, no I'm here.", Cecilia smiled sheepishly, "I was just at the beach with Zoe. To get away from my parents."

"Understandable.", he assured, "I'm glad you're apparently going down with me on this trip after all."

They laughed at the realisation that neither of them were really looking forward to the next week and a half. But at least they could find solace in each other.
