Chapter Five

November 4th, 2098

Tuesday

Entry 4

Dear Fe,

It's almost 4 A.M. and Amelia is still not back yet. I'm really starting to worry. What if she's hurt? What if she's dead? If she isn't back by 4:30, I'm going look for her. But when she gets back, I'm going to kill her. Not literally.

I slammed Fe shut and shoved it in it's hiding spot. I looked at the clock and it read 3:52. Amelia better be dead if she isn't home by now.

I heard the door close and rustling in the kitchen. I hurried down the stairs to find Amelia in a slutty outfit, chomping down on leftover salad.

"Where have you been?" I practically screamed at her. "Do you have any idea how late it is?" She rolled her eyes and giggled.

"Sorry, mom."

"Don't talk to me like that!" I walked up to her and grabbed her chin. Her eyes were dilated. "Are you drunk?"

"No," she slurred. "You're drunk." She smiled and poked my nose. "Boop." Her breath smelled like liquor.

I slapped her hand away. "Do you have any idea how late it is, Amelia? We were worried sick about you!"

"Aviana, just...just chill, okay?" She tried to walk away but stumbled. "I-I'm fine."

"Chill? Chill? No! I will not 'chill' if you don't have the decency to at least call when you know you're going to be late home."

"Hey! I'm an adult." She burped.

I snapped. "You are a child!" I screamed at her. "You are an irresponsible little brat that doesn't care about what's important! And if you think that you can do whatever you want because you're an 'adult', you're dead wrong!"

"Aviana, you have no-"

"Don't you dare say I don't have the right to talk to you this way. This is my house. It's my rules. And so help me, if you do this again, I'm buying you and South a one way ticket back to your colony."

"Aviana?" A small voice piped up from the hallway. I turned around. It was Layla.

"Go back to bed, Layla."

As she walked up the stairs, I hissed at Amelia, "If you're a f*cking adult, then get the f*ck out of my house, because I'm tired of your shit."
