Chapter 1

Jake’s POV

“Jake!” my friend called getting my attention. I glanced over at Connor and raised my eyebrows questionably. Connor had black short black hair that he spiked up. He was a big guy, not fat but very toned. He was a linebacker on the football team, and my best friend.

“Look,” he said and nodded towards Thalia coming our way. The girl was an outcast, loner, and was extremely weird, always having her head stuck in a book. Her shoulders were hunched, head stooped low as if trying not to attract attention. Her bangs covered her face and she had a book tucked under her arm and a large backpack hanging from her back. She was carrying a plate of nachos and preparing to walk past our table. My friend and I exchanged looks. As she walked by, my hand lashed out and hit the bottom of her plate.

The nachos went flying into her face and hair, her glasses were covered with yellow cheese, and a chip was sticking to her shirt. She stood there in stunned silence for a moment as her plate clattered to the floor. The whole cafeteria roared in laughter but I did not end it there. As she tried to take off towards the bathroom I stuck my foot out and she face planted the floor. She picked herself up as the laughing got louder, tucking the book under her arm once more, and this time succeeding in leaving the cafeteria. I joined the laughing as I saw the tears running down her face as she left. She should have saw it coming, I thought, smirking slightly. I thought I had made it clear from past episodes that freaks like her shouldn’t be that optimistic. Connor patted my back appraisingly. “Nice job man,” he said as he turned back to his plate of food and I did the same.

“You think she would learn by now,” he said.

“She must not be too bright,” I told him.

“She comes off as smart though always reading a book and wearing those glasses,” he replied, and I just shrugged at him.

“Hey Jake,” Alison purred as she ran her hand down my arm. I looked up and my eyes instantly, uncontrollably went to her to look as her tight low cut shirt that showed off her chest nicely. She plopped down her measly meal of a salad and orange and sat down next to me, sliding between Connor and I. I don’t even know why she even got lunch, she never ate it. She was as tiny as could be and since she was head cheerleader she prided herself on keeping her weight down.

Then Alison leaned forward and kissed me and soon we were having a full make out session in the middle of the lunch room. I heard Connor wolf whistling next to me.

Then Alison pulled back and started talking. Once she talked there was no interrupting her. She talked so fast which made all her words flow together. Everything she said was so boring and I saw Connor give me a sympathetic look over her shoulder.

I made sure though to smile and laugh and nod at all the right places, but soon I had zoned out. All she told me about was her petty problems. Or describe to me what she got during her last trip to the mall. And believe me when it got unto shopping I would get to hear every little detail of those shoes she bought and how slimming they made her look or that pink dress that made her boobs look big. She made sure to tell it all from the seams to the glitter.
