EJ freezes, but doesn't pull away. After a few seconds, his lips begin to move with Jeff's. It's a little awkward at first, with Jeff's carved out cheeks and EJ's sharp teeth. Their noses keep bumping weird. But eventually, they get a rhythm. They kiss as if they're sucking the oxygen from each other. As if they'll die if they separate their mouths for too long. The only thought that crosses either of their minds is MORE. Jeff cups Jack's face, angling his head back. EJ's hands grasp Jeff's hoodie at his waist, tugging him closer. Their tongues clash together, melding. When they pull away, both are breathing hard.

"I...didn't mean...to do that," Jeff pants. "Sorry...I..."

"Shut up and kiss me," EJ says. Jeff grabs his head and they clash again. Jeff holds on tight to Jack's hair, keeping his head in the same spot. The warmth of EJ's tongue and the taste of his mouth is intoxicating. The lingering taste of blood in his mouth drives Jeff wild. They part slowly, reluctantly. Their foreheads touch, breaths mixing between them.

"I...didn't know I...needed that." Jeff opens his eyes, staring at EJ in wonder.

"Me...either."

"Well, at least we know what this is now."

EJ laughs heartily. "Yeah, I guess we do." He still hasn't loosened his grip on Jeff's hoodie.

"Should we get moving again?" Jeff wonders.

"Probably." Yet neither of them move a centimeter.

"Damn. I want to..."

"Me too." Their lips meet for a third time. Only softer and less frantic. EJ lightly bites Jeff's bottom lip, but blood still begins to well. "Sorry."

"Don't be," Jeff whispers hoarsly. Without thought, Jack's tongue flicks out, licking the blood away. Jeff wants to stay just like this forever. But he knows they have to leave at some point. They can't here too long, especially not too close to the person he killed. Suddenly, EJ stiffens.

"EJ? What's wrong?" Jack's head whips down. His hand that was holding Jeff's jacket is covered in blood.

"Your wound..."

"Shit. Must've opened it up when I was running. I didn't even notice." EJ pushes Jeff onto his back and lifts up the hoodie. Now that they've kissed, seeing Jeff's bare torso makes Jack blush, marred as it is by blood and cuts. He ignores his body and begins cleaning the wound. He pulls out his first aid kit and restitches the cut.

"There. You should be more careful from now on."

"I think that might be impossible." Both of them blush this time and look away. "I mean, you know, we are on the run."

"Yeah." They both stand up and glance around, avoiding each other's eyes. They grab their bags and start walking again. Every once in a while, their hands will brush. But neither one has the courage to do anything more. Jeff doesn't want to make Jack uncomfortable and EJ doesn't know how to react to his feelings. It's driving both of them nuts. The slight touch is nice, but it's not enough. Jack glances at Jeff then looks away when Jeff turns to him. Then Jeff breaks eye contact.

"Oh for God's sake," Jeff whispers. "Can I hold your hand?"

EJ lets out a nervous chuckle. "Please." Jeff grabs Jack's hand, mindful of the long nails. He threads his fingers between EJ's. His hands are a little sweaty, but Jeff doesn't mind. It just means that they're warm. If somebody had told Jeff before he left Slender Palace that this is where he would be, he would've laughed. He would've never thought he'd end up here, holding hands and kissing someone. Jeff assumed he'd be alone for the rest of his life. He believed himself incapable of feeling anything, let alone someone else feeling something for him. This is completely new to him. Now, he's faked feelings plenty of times. Like when he once decided it was a good idea to date Jane. Yeah, that was a big mistake.

But he kept it up for a while, before he just gave up trying. Pleasing her was super easy. However, she didn't understand Jeff one bit. She knew plenty about him. Just not the things that mattered. She knew how he kills, how he choses his victims, how he eats certain foods. She knew his routine. But she never understood why. She didn't REALLY understand him, she only KNEW him. The only one who's ever understood Jeff is walking beside him right now. Not only does he know Jeff, but he understands him. And that's a powerful thing. But not nearly as powerful as this need to be with EJ. The need to protect him and become someone important in his life. He needs Jack to know that he can trust Jeff.

"What?" EJ says. "You're staring."

"You're amazing. That's what."

Jack smiles, blushes, and looks away. "Is that so? I think you've got that backwards."

"I'm just astounded that I have someone who gets me."

"Trust me, I feel the same way. Being like this doesn't lead to happy relationships. Or even good friendships. People either think I'm insane, creepy, or they think they can change me."

"People always think that I'm a killer and nothing else. They think I'm the confident asshole that I show them. And they never look any deeper."

Jack leans in. "Well fuck 'em."

Jeff laughs. "No kidding." His smile drops. "I'm glad I met you. I was so used to being alone, I forgot how nice it is to talk to someone. To have hope that my future doesn't only involve running and wondering when I'm going to die. Who's going to cut my line."

"For me, I knew who it would be." When he pauses, Jeff glances at him. "Myself. It was just a matter of when. Although, I've tried before. But I'm not human anymore, so it's not that easy. I'm just a victim of my own mind, my own intrusive thoughts. I just let it control me. Because it was something. It was a direction. So I wasn't just wondering around, lost."

Jeff squeezes EJ's hand. "Not anymore. Because I'm here and I can save you from yourself. Until you're able to save yourself."

Jack raises their joined hands and kisses Jeff's knuckles. "I can't wait."
