A/N: I'm so sorry it's been so long since I updated! I've had a lot going on and tbh, I forgot about this story. Please forgive me! Anyway, here's another part finally. I hope you enjoy!
The two killers have been on the move for months now. Winter is over, meaning the days are hot and the nights are cool. They no longer need to huddle together for warmth, although they still do anyway. As the days pass, their feelings grow. Yet neither quite knows what to say or do. Their awkwardness is gone, but their attraction remains. For now, they've made a nice place for themselves in the woods next to a waterfall.
"Jeff, what in God's name are you doing?"
"Having a bit of fun. Now shush. I'm almost done." Jeff has his hands in EJ's hair. It's been a while since his last haircut. Jeff at least can use a mirror to cut his own. Not that he's a hairdresser or anything, so it doesn't always look the best. But it's better than looking like Cousin It from the Addam's Family.
"Just because I can't see myself anymore doesn't mean I want my hair to look bad, Jeff. If you mess up my hair-"
"Hey, I'm not that bad." Jeff laughs. "You're going to look fine." He finishes up and stands back to assess his work. "Actually, you look even cuter."
Jack blushes. "I...doubt that."
"You do! You're so adorable. Really."
Jack's face flushes even more. "No, that's you."
Jeff chuckles. "Nice comeback, babe. How long did it take you to come up with that?"
"Sh-shut up."
"God, you're so red. It makes me want to kiss you."
EJ glances up, lips parted. "Then do it."
Jeff's breath hitches. Even after all this time, that face EJ makes still steals his breath away. He leans down, capturing EJ's lips. Before he can even think of pulling back, EJ's hands wrap around Jeff's neck. They kiss until Jeff's head is spinning and every thought is gone.
"I'll never get tired of that," Jeff whispers.
"Me either. But we should get some rest. We've got to go hunting tomorrow."
"Yeah. You can't survive on just animals after all." Jeff gives EJ one last peck before he lays down. "Sleep well, babe."
EJ blushes again. He's not sure when Jeff started calling him that, but he likes it. It's just a bit embarrassing. He's never really dated anyone before. So pet names are new for him. "You too."
~*~
Something disturbs Jeff's sleep. EJ is no longer beside him. They've cuddled every night since that first kiss. But now, he's gone. Jeff sits up, but doesn't see EJ anywhere. He stands up, yawning, and looks around. Maybe EJ had to go to the bathroom or something? Or maybe he couldn't sleep and took a walk? But then, he would've woken Jeff up to tell him. Jack wouldn't just go for a walk without telling his boyfriend.
That's when Jeff notices something in the grass. It's EJ's mask, but the straps are broken, as if force was applied. EJ doesn't really wear it anymore, now that he's comfortable with Jeff. Beside the mask are skid marks, as if there was a scuffle or something. Jeff isn't much of a tracker, at least not in the country like this. He's only ever stalked people in the city for the most part. But the two have been out here long enough that he can understand some things.
"There was someone else here." He leans closer to the marks. "And whoever it is attacked EJ!" He sees marks farther along, deep lines grooved into the dirt. It seems as if someone was...dragged. And with how deep they are, the person was clearly unconscious.
"Oh shit." Jeff says. "Someone took him. Fuck!" He doesn't know who or why they did. But he has to find EJ. Whatever they have planned isn't good. He can feel fear taking hold as he sprints off, following the trail. There's no telling how long ago this happened or how far they've gotten. He doesn't even care if it's a trap.
"Hold on, EJ," Jeff mutters. "I'll find you. I'll hunt them down and I WILL get you back. Please be okay." He stops every once in a while to examine the group more closely. The newest marks show EJ finally woke up and started to struggle. But was knocked out again and the person continued to drag him away.
"Damn it. If they hurt him..." Jeff clenches his teeth. The longer this goes on, the more furious he gets. Someone dared not only to kidnap the person he cares about, but to hurt him. Jeff won't just kill this person. He'll torture them. And he'll enjoy every minute of it.
Eventually, the trail ends by a warehouse. It looks to have been abandoned for some time. But clearly SOMEONE lives here. Jeff creeps up to the building, peeking in a window. However, the glass is too grimy to see through. The only way he'll know anything is if he goes in. Which will put him at a major disadvantage. The kidnapper knows this place, at least a little. Jeff knows absolutely nothing. But every second he waits out here, trying to form a plan, they're doing God knows what to EJ.
The only thing he can do is waltz right in. Jeff draws his knife and opens the door. It squeaks with every inch it moves. He opens it enough that he can slip in, trying not to make too much noise. Although, whoever took EJ has to know he's coming. There's no way Jeff can get the drop on them. They really have some balls, though, taking him right under Jeff's nose. Jeff goes from room to room, checking. He finds nothing and no one. The other rooms are undisturbed, the dust unmarked.
Finally, he finds EJ in the last room, farthest from the entrance. His hands are shackled, the chains attached to the ceiling, making him hang a couple inches from the ground.
Jeff runs up to him. "EJ!" He whispers, touching the demon's face gently. There's a bit of dried blood on the side of his face. He stirs a bit, but doesn't wake up. "EJ, wake up!"
"He'll be out for a while. I gave him a little something to...calm him."
Jeff whirls around, knife at the ready. "Who the hell are you? What do you want?"
"Call me Hunter. As for what I want..." The guy grins. "Well, that doesn't matter. Because you'll be dead anyway."
"Oh? You really think you can kill me? Me?! Do you have any idea who I am?"
"Jeff the Killer. With a body count in the hundreds. Everyone knows who you are. So what?"
"'So what?' That's all you have to say?"
"What do you want me to say? That you kill without a reason? That you're PATHETIC? That you don't deserve the amazing man you claim to care about?"
"What the hell ate you talking about?"
"Jack is so much better than you are! He's so strong, so smart, so sweet. You don't deserve someone as amazing as him! I'M a better match for him. And he'll see that. I'll make him see that."
Jeff rolls his eyes. "Great. You're one of THOSE crazy people." He raised his blade. "I'm only going to tell you this once. Give me the keys to those shackles and get the fuck out of here."
Hunter laughs maniacally. "REALLY?! YOU THINK I'M AN IDIOT?! Why in the hell would I do that?!"
"Because you get to live. I'll let you go."
"That's not happening."
"Good." Jeff grins, his etched smile spreading even wider.
"What?"
"You took him from me. You HURT him. He's MINE. And I'm HIS. He'll NEVER want you, you crazy bastard." No more words are needed. Jeff charges, his blood pumping fast and his head demanding to kill.
