Thanks again for reading Rewind! Especially _Micah-Drew_ for sticking with me with all my stories so far >.< Really, thank you so much!
It feels really good to write this story because it has been an especially cathartic process for me. I've always wanted to try something new so I did two new things: writing in reverse chronological order and writing a cyclic story, where the final incomplete sentence complete the incomplete opening line to give new meaning to the sentence and story as a whole.
Although I've never exactly had a traumatic experience, I have countless regrets and memories that keep replaying in my mind. I just thought it might be a theme I want to tackle this time round, with how they keep resurfacing inconveniently and how hard and long it takes to accept different events. To write Rewind really makes me feel more at ease and accepting toward myself. I've always been the kind to put others before self in an extreme manner, you see, so this feels like a strange case of self-care.
I've had this story idea ever since I watched Angels of Death and later went on to read on Drifblim's Pokédex entry. This story has so many symbolisms and is filled with ghosts (which I used to hate, like really, I didn't use a Ghost-type up till Gen 4 when I had a Drifblim in Pokémon Diamond) making it so different from my other stories. I did like the more ambivalent ending here, though.
This is one of those stories I'll reread as a reminder to myself of how far I've come when I feel discouraged, writing and life-wise. It's gotten slightly personal at times, compared to say, Healer Killer, which I wrote before this story. You get enough to piece together certain important things but some stuff has been omitted or unanswered and up for interpretation. This has always been what I feel toward my memories and my past, and how I view them as time passes. How the old me and the current me is so unlike each other, yet so similar.
I hope Rewind resonates with you in some way, too, and that you enjoy reading it and maybe learnt something from Yan and Adolf's journey.
Moving on, I want to announce that I'm participating in the Open Novella Contest 2021, and writing my first original fic for the first time in a while. Not exactly my first novella since Rewind is my first novella considering it fits the word count criteria of 20K-40K words. As such, I've decided to use my backup account Levinos for this and possibly leave this account for Pokéfics only (or any other fandom I may write in someday) while the other account will be used for my non-Pokéfics. So do give it a follow if you're interested!
Because I want to focus on my novella entry, I'll be less active on here and more active on my other account starting 17 February 2021 when the first chapter of my entry Blood Lazarus drops. I'll still be reading with this account though!
To give you a little teaser, here's the synopsis:
Resurrected after he's murdered, Asher Wang thinks he has a second chance at life. He can rekindle old bonds. He can fix things. He can start anew.
And he will kill. Asher mirrors his murderer to lure them out while keeping up his stellar reputation, careful to hide this change within him from everyone. His plan is simple: once they take the bait, they will die by his hands.
His masquerade will pit murderer against murderer and bring answers to the surface. Yet, Asher knows better than to rejoice; a second chance at life may just mean his last chance at death.
That's right! It'll be another thriller (a genre I've grown comfortable writing in) but it will contain fantasy elements because of the resurrection. Do look out for it!
See you in Blood Lazarus >.< In the meantime, stay safe and healthy!
