"Oh My Gosh, you're Da...!!!" He quickly tightened his lips together and shook his head. Everyone was staring at our table. "What are you lookin' at, haven't you seen two people having coffee before, jeez!" I yell at everyone. "I'm guessing you're a fan?" he begins.
"TOTALLY, can I just say..." I was about to praise him, when I catch the time on his watch "...that I'm totally late for work, I've got to get out of here" I quickly get up only to end up stumbling on my right leg as a sharp pain ebbs up my leg; I had forgotten about the whole cut. Darren quickly catches me and sits me back down. "Whoa, slow down there. Is it far? Do you walk there? "
"No, it's not far, it's just down the road" I start to stand up again.
"Well then would you please give me the honour of escorting you there" he says as he bows down and stretches out his hand, like they do in movies when a man's asking a woman to dance. I take his hand and he helps me up.
"I reckon it would be more of an honour for me, but sure" We walked, well I limped and he walked, towards the building in which I worked. It was a small skyscraper, if you get what I mean, and was the headquarters of a popular teen magazine, like Girlfriend.
"By the way, there's no-one really special in my life either" Darren mumbled.
"What?"
"I mean I'm single too, I'm just trying to find that special someone" He blushed.
"Well your not the only one, still I'm surprised I'm sure you could sweep any woman off their feet, you did to me, I mean, as a joke you know 'coz I fell over, it was a pun... I mean, you didn't sweep me off my feet in a romantic way... I mean yeah... you know what I'm just gonna stop talking now" He was smiling very smug like when I looked at him. "Oh shut up Mr I'm just trying to find that special someone" I said teasingly. We both started laughing at each other.
We continue to talk until we reach the front of the skyscraper I work in. "So, this is where I work..." I said; to be honest I was sad, you know maybe I would never see Darren again.
"Wait, this is where you work?" He said staring up at the building.
"Yeah, I work as a movie critic, for the magazine. My dream job, how cool is that, watching movies for a living?"
"Your Jane?"
"I think we established that"
"No, I meant, the Jane T-ara. Wow, amazing, I had no idea. I read your column all the time, your ideas and reviews about movies are hilarious" I was soo amazed, wait Jane keep it cool. "You... read the magazine" I smirked. "No, no, Chris showed it to me, you know Kurt from Glee..." He blushed "... I just read your part, not the whole magazine; it's not really my kind of reading material"
"Suuurree... hahaha" I teased "Thank you for escorting me Sir Darren" I said in mock-bow.
"Mi' Lady if you don't mind, me asking a question. Do you go to the café every morning?"
"More or less..." I said with one of my eyebrows raised.
"...well same time, same place tomorrow?"
"Ok, yeah, sure, see you then!" I wave and begin to step inside the building, but because I was too excited to see Darren again I had forgotten about my cut, and then I faltered on my leg, again. Darren caught me, again, de ja vu much. "You really do have trouble staying up on your own two feet, hahaha" he says as he sets me straight again. "Well, I did warn you, thank you again Prince Charming, so see you tomorrow" We stand awkwardly in front of each other, I didn't know what he was thinking, but my mind was racing; should we hand shake, no way too formal, what about a hug, no we just met, maybe he's the hugging type, he seems like one... Then I was thrown back into reality when my best friend burst out of the building panting, "OMG Jane, there you are! Gosh you are soo totally late, the boss wants your article on Love Actually 2 like NOW" I didn't know whether to be grateful for her sudden appearance or annoyed.
Darren had lowered his hat, and before my friend was able to completely drag me into the building, he said "I'll be looking forward to it", and shot me a quick smile before hurried down the stairs. I felt surprisingly sad to see him go - actually it wasn't a surprise at all; I enjoyed his company and the fact that he was my teenage heart-throb, actually maybe 5 years on and I still have a massive crush on him - didn't hurt either. He had gone a long way since Glee, he began an extremely successful solo artist singing career, as well as moving onto the big screen and becoming a well-rounded, famous (not that he already wasn't), successful actor. He kept his fans from the Glee days and made a lot more, he was sorta a big deal nowa days, nearly everyone knew who he was, so I understood why he wore the disguise.
"HEEELLLOOO Jane..." my friend said while waving her hand in front of my face "...quit daydreaming about your new boyfriend..." I quickly cut her off "he's NOT my boyfriend.""Whatever, oh c'mon" she tugged harder on my arm "do you like want me to carry you."
"That would be nice actually" I said as I limped as fast as I could to the staff meeting, I was let off with a warning and gave my contribution to this week's magazine, with another hopefully hilarious yet serious movie review. Let me say Love Actually 2, what were they thinking. As much as I love seeing Alan Rickman in a movie, and I mean love, they shouldn't have went there.
The rest of the day seemed a bore compared to what happened this morning, but don't get me wrong I love watching movies, talking about movies, and arguing about movies, but then again I'm a movie critic. But this morning was so... " Surreal" get it like from Notting Hill, ok you got me a movie critic is basically another word for movie nerd, but the point is... I MET DARREN CRISS. I mean what can compare to that, apart from meeting Alan Rickman, nothing at all, well for me that is.
