Chapter 28: Title and Loyalty
A scream ripped from Dongshik's throat, raw and choked with pain. Jungkook's claws, sharp as obsidian, had sunk deep into his neck, tearing through flesh and drawing blood. Crimson welled, tracing a dark path down his collar. He thrashed, legs dangling uselessly, gasping for breath, his body wracked with agony. His hands, instinctively clawing at Jungkook's arms, found purchase only on hardened muscle, the alpha seemingly impervious to pain.
“Feeling the pain now?” Jungkook sneered, his voice dripping with cruel amusement. With a contemptuous flick of his wrist, he tossed Dongshik to the ground, the impact sending a fresh wave of searing pain through the already battered body. Dongshik landed with a sickening thud, groaning as he coughed, his body shuddering with the force of the blow.
Each breath was a torment, each muscle screaming in protest. The pain was all-consuming, a burning inferno that threatened to consume him entirely. He trembled a broken marionette, his body convulsing with relentless agony.
Jungkook's voice, a venomous whisper, cut through the air. “Killing you quickly would be far too merciful.” The words hung in the silence, a chilling promise of prolonged suffering. The casual cruelty was far more terrifying than any swift death. As Jungkook turned to approach Dongshik, a sharp, searing pain lanced through his left arm. He glanced down, his eyes narrowing as he saw a dagger embedded in his flesh. With a casual flick of his wrist, he extracted the weapon, the blood flowing freely, yet seemingly unnoticed. His gaze shifted to the source of the attack.
“Is this it? Prey challenging its predator?” Jungkook commented, a hint of amusement in his tone as he regarded the figure.
It was Song Kim, Dongshik's long-time assistant, a figure usually shrouded in shadows. He was a mess, his clothes torn, his body slick with sweat and blood, a testament to a desperate struggle. Yet, despite his obvious exhaustion, his defiance burned bright.
“If you want him, you'll have to kill me first,” Kim gritted out, his voice strained but resolute.
Jungkook chuckled, a low, mocking sound. “Loyalty to your pathetic leader? Such a noble sentiment.”
“That's right!” Kim snarled, his voice raw with emotion. “He's the strongest! He deserves to be the leader of all leaders! You're blocking his path, and the only way to clear it is to eliminate you! And I'll make sure he gets what he deserves!” He glared at Jungkook, his eyes blazing with fierce determination.
“A truly inspiring speech,” Jungkook said, his smile widening, a predatory glint in his eyes.
Kim roared, reaching for an arrow, his intent clear. But before he could even nock it, Jungkook was upon him, a blur of motion. In the blink of an eye, he had Kim by the throat, his grip like a vise.
“I believe it's more efficient to deal with the assistant first,” Jungkook said, his voice a chilling whisper, sending a shiver of icy fear down Kim's spine.
Kim struggled, but it was futile. Before he could muster a defense, he was thrown to the ground with brutal force, blood spraying from his mouth. The attack had been swift, silent, and utterly devastating.
“Rest in peace,” Jungkook said, his voice devoid of emotion. “You served your purpose well. Such loyalty deserves… recognition.” The backhanded compliment was as cruel as it was cold.
With a sickening crack, Jungkook twisted Kim's neck, the life draining from his eyes. Darkness claimed him, swift and final. The assistant's loyalty, however fierce, had proven utterly insufficient against the overwhelming power of the alpha.Dongshik's eyes, wide with a terror that transcended mere fear, mirrored the stark reality of his situation. The casual efficiency with which Jungkook had ended Kim's life had etched itself onto his soul, a horrifying testament to the alpha's power. His attempt at escape was pathetic, a desperate scrabble across the cold, unforgiving floor. His body, a trembling mass of muscle and bone, was a testament to his utter helplessness. The sharp point pressing against his nape was a grim harbinger of his fate.
“Such poor form, abandoning your loyal companion,” Jungkook's voice, a glacial whisper that cut through the silence, carried no hint of emotion, only the cold precision of a predator. “Show some solidarity; I'm sure he'd appreciate the company in the underworld.” The words were a cruel mockery, a calculated insult designed to amplify Dongshik's fear.Jungkook's claws, long and wickedly sharp, grazed his neck, sending a shiver of pure, unadulterated terror down his spine. Each hair on his body stood on end, a physical manifestation of his dread.
“You… you… monster!” Dongshik's voice was a broken rasp, a desperate attempt at defiance that crumbled under the weight of his fear. “You deserve to die!”
The words were hollow, the desperate struggle for breath robbing them of any real power.
Jungkook's response was a chilling smile, a slow, deliberate curve of his lips that revealed nothing but the cold satisfaction of a predator toying with its prey.“Oh, you will die, Dongshik. And your death will be a masterpiece of suffering, a slow, agonizing symphony of pain. You will pay dearly for what you did to my mate.” His tone was devoid of all empathy, a chilling demonstration of his unwavering resolve. The promise of a drawn-out demise hung heavy in the air, a terrifying prelude to the horrors to come.
A guttural groan escaped Dongshik's lips as Jungkook's claws, like instruments of exquisite torture, sank into his flesh. The first claw found purchase in his collarbone, tearing through muscle and bone with a sickening crunch. The second followed, sinking deeper, its point pressing against his windpipe, choking off his breath. The agony was immediate, all-consuming, a searing inferno that threatened to consume him entirely.
“This,” Jungkook murmured, his voice a low growl that vibrated with cold satisfaction, “is your final, biggest mistake.”
One by one, with a deliberate, almost ritualistic precision, Jungkook's claws tore into Dongshik's flesh. Each strike was a calculated act of cruelty, designed to inflict maximum pain and terror. Dongshik's screams were a mixture of agony and despair, a desperate plea for mercy that fell on deaf ears. His body convulsed, his limbs thrashing uselessly as the alpha's claws continued their relentless assault. His breathing became shallow, ragged gasps punctuated by the sounds of his own suffering. His eyes, once filled with arrogance and malice, now reflected only the stark terror of a man facing his gruesome end. Jungkook's merciless attack continued, even as Dongshik's lifeblood flowed, staining the floor crimson, until the alpha's vengeance was complete, leaving behind only a broken, lifeless husk. The scene was a brutal testament to the alpha's power and the terrible price of defying him.
