It was difficult for Kiana to focus on looking after the twins. They were always a handful to deal with and it didn't help that her mind was somewhere else.
"Kiana help!" She snapped out of her thoughts to see that Leo had spilt his milk across the table. "Oh Leo, be careful next time." He sulked and apologised as Kiana began wiping away the spilled dairy from the table.
Her mind was torn. She didn't know how she felt about him and even more so after what had just happened. She was always the calm and collected type- and right now, she definitely was not. It scared her deep down. She was used to girls accusing her of false rumours but it hurt her when it came from him. After all, he was important to her. That's for sure.
She chewed the inside of her lip. She remembered the breaking of his voice and the pain in his tone as he held her waist like he was scared she would leave. It pained her. But, he hurt her just as bad. They were both hurt. And it was up to one of them to be the bigger person and properly talk about it.
And so, when the Shoto family gathered back home and Kiana's shift was finished, before she even left the house. She was already searching for Aomine's number in her contacts.
They've never called before. They would text here and there but it was never about anything important. Not something like this as least.
She waited nervously as the phone rung. After the first ring, she heard the oh-so-familiar voice. "Hey." He sounded lifeless, missing the usual playful tone that he usually carried.
"Hey." And silence. Kiana bit her lip trying to think of what to say next. "Where are you right now?" He asked and she sighed.
"I'm outside Haizaki-kun's house still." And immediately she heard rustling sounds and in no time a door swung open. Aomine was running down the path still holding his phone to his ear. He was wearing a black Kyrie Irving basketball jersey and grey sweats with nike slides he must have slipped on last minute.
"Kiana. I'm so sorr-" before he could say anything more, she wrapped her arms around his body. He froze. His heart pounded against his rib cage as he felt the warmth of her small frame across his chest as she pressed her face into the his chest. The chilly air blew against his back waking him up from his state of paralysis as he looked down. His eyes softened. To think he accused her. How could he be so stupid?
He snaked his arms around her back silently, pushing her even closer into his muscular frame. He was at a loss for words.
They have never hugged. And today, they've hugged twice. He felt conflicted. He knew he shouldn't be happy about this considering the reason they were hugging but all he could focus on was the beautiful girl in his arms at this moment.
"I'm sorry Aomine." He was taken aback and pulled away. He cupped both of her cheeks in complete disbelief. "Why are you apologising?"
She stared into him intensely analysing his puffy dark blue eyes and messy bed hair. "I just felt like saying sorry. I should hav-"
"Stop Kiana. I'm the one who needs to apologise. You did nothing wrong." He squeezed her cheeks a little bit more. He stared at her pursed lips. He so badly wanted to kiss her lips, warm him up from the inside in the cool winds of the night. She was staring at his lips as he leaned in. She closed her eyes preparing for impact.
Am I really doing this? Am I really going to kiss her? Right here? Right now? All these thoughts ran through Aomine's mind as he blushed seeing the tint her across cheeks and eyes closed.
But, he didn't want his first kiss with her to be like this. To be right after he said hurtful things to her. And so, it took all of the effort out of him to instead place a gentle kiss on the top of her forehead. She opened her eyes and gave him the face she always gives when she's flustered. His face, the same. He didn't even know if she liked him; if she had wanted him to kiss her or anything that was running through her mind.
She giggled. "You're kinda cute." His eyes widen a fraction which he tried to mask. "Did that make you fall in love with me again?" He joked after hearing her compliment him for the first time and flashed her the cocky smile he always wore.
"Not really."

Aomine had walked her home before returning to his own. He lied flat on his bed and covered his eyes with his right forearm thinking about what had happened today. Too much happened. He was was still in disbelief that she apologised to him. What on earth is that girl thinking?
But the main thing that was on his mind was what had occurred after. How she had prepared for him to kiss her. Did she want me to kiss her? He groaned as he stared at his phone, contemplating calling her just to hear her voice or even facetiming her to see her adorable face. But he stopped himself. He didn't want to get too ahead of himself. After all, it was too soon. What if she doesn't like him? He would understand after the events of today. He groaned again and pulled at his hair. I'm gonna go play some ball.
The next day was a Saturday and Kiana was looking after the Shogo kids again until 10pm. It was a full day shift and by the end of the night she was exhausted. She hadn't seen Aomine all day. She had texted him here and there but she longed to see him in person; she missed his smirk.
Aomine was already waiting, leaning beside the door waiting for Kiana to finish. He was drenched by a large hoodie and a pair of sweats. His hood was up covering his messy hair and he was playing Clash of Clans on his phone.
"Hey. How long were you waiting for me?" Kiana asked as he jumped up in shock, accidentally placing a dragon down in the wrong place.
"Damn it! I messed up my attack now." He grunted and Kiana giggled. "I only waited around 10. It's fine." He stuffed his phone away into the pocket of his hoodie. "Let's get you to your house then." He smiled and pushed his back foot off the door.
As they treaded along the path preparing for the long journey, Kiana tugged Aomine's hood down. "What did you do that for?" He raised a brow.
"You look like a drug dealer when you have your hood up." She joked as he was about to lash out at her playful when she continued "And I wanted to see your face clearly." She smiled softly.
He felt the twist in his stomach as she yawned. They were about to walk past his house before she stopped and tugged on his sleeve. "I'm pretty exhausted. Do you mine if I stay at your house tonight?" He gasped. I mean, he never brought a girl home suprisingly. She did have a point though. It was dangerous to be walking around so late at night and he was pretty tired himself.
He smiled. "Only if you say you love me."
