Soon Kiana began noticing a slight shift in Aomine's behaviour. He was distancing himself, not responding to some of her texts or calls and stopped turning up to practice. It hurt her slightly since they only just started dating, or at least that's what she thought. But she could sense something was off.
Little did Kiana know that his fateful encounter with a certain red and blue duo triggered his change in attitude, anger and old habits.
Moimoi had told Kiana to not worry and that he was just returning to his old ways, but his old ways were when Kiana wasn't apart of his life. And right now that's how she felt.
The team had given up on Aomine even though they were versing his former teammate in the upcoming round. They said to let him be since he plays well either way and it was how he always was. "I really thought he changed." The words Imuayoshi whispered replayed in Kiana's head as Wakamatsu and most of the team trash talked his poor attitude.
She exhaled when she heard the familiar automated voice she had been hearing a lot recently. She missed Aomine and wanted him to open up to her as something was clearly bothering him. But instead all he did was push her away.
And so, when she arrived at his doorstep she had to swallow down her nerves and ignore the voice in her head that screamed at her to leave him be. But she wasn't going to give up on him, even if everyone else may have.
"Can we talk?" Kiana quietly asked when Aomine opened the front door aggressively.
"Whatever." He shut the door and motioned for them to walk which she followed. He had his hood up, covering his expression, and his hands were stuffed deep in his pockets.
It was silently for a couple of beats before Aomine cut it, "So are you going to talk or what?" The tone Aomine used was harsh. It wasn't the voice of the man she began falling for. Kiana wondered what could have made him so cold, or whether or not she was just blinded by love to see his true colours.
"Did you lose interest in me?" Kiana bit her lip, her heart sank as it was painful to admit it the way she felt, but it was needed.
He stopped in his tracks and took down his hood to aggressively ruffle his hair and groan, "Fuck it's not that." He looked up to see the ocean orbs he loved so much were now rimmed with so many emotions, emotions of hurt.
"Well what is it? Did I do something wrong? Or are you worried about the Interhig-" Kiana was abruptly cut off.
"It's always Interhigh this, Interhigh that. I could care less. What's the point if I'm going to win either way? I'm sick of it." Kiana chewed the inside of her right cheek as she watched the tanned boy vent.
"But why did you ignore me? You could have told me how you felt." Kiana whimpered.
"Not everything's about you. I just wanted to be alone for a bit and all you've been doing is annoying me non-stop. Why can't you just fuck off for once?" He soon shut his mouth upon seeing Kiana's face lift from the ground to meet his eyes.
He was never the type of man to regret, but he certainly regretted what he had just spat at the girl. Her aquamarine eyes no longer twinkled but instead stared at him with disappointment once more. He recognised this expression, and he knew this time this fight wouldn't be solved so easily like the first time she made this face to him.
He fucked up.
She pressed her lips into a soft smile, "I'm sorry you feel that way Aomine-kun." She turned around and walked away and he swore he saw a tear roll down her cheek. There it is, she apologised first again and even worse, she called him Aomine, not just Aomine, but Aomine-kun. And although he wanted to apologise and hold her in his arms something in his gut told her to let her go. But there's something so painful about watching her figure walk away from him.
