September 1st, 1993

Students rushed past me in the corridor as I struggled to find a cabin to sit in. I looked in the windows when I passed by each one, and made my way farther and farther toward the back. Almost at the last compartment of the train, I found a cabin with a cover over the window. Curious, I knocked on the door.

An annoyed looking boy with shaggy black hair and green eyes opened the door. With an aggravated tone, he spoke, "What is it?"

I just stood there, Kit squirming in my arms. "Umm, I was going to see if you had any room for one more person?" I raised my eyebrows in awkward question. My expression changed to embarrassment when I saw the looks the two other - conscious, seeing as one other person was sleeping in the corner - people in the room exchanged and hurried to reply before things got more awkward. "Never mind, I'm just gonna go. It looks like I've interrupted something-" I was cut off by a curly-haired brunette girl.

"Nonsense, of course. Please, sit down." She gestured to the seat across from her and I looked at the boy standing in the doorway and noticed his jaw clench. Despite this, I passed him and sat down. I sat Kit down on floor and let her curl up next to my feat. The black-haired boy sat down next to me.

"This is Ron, Harry, Professor Lupin, and I'm Hermione Granger," she said pointing to everyone as she named them off. Professor Lupin was the sleeping figure in the corner, and Ron was sitting next to Hermione. Harry was next to me.

"I'm Delacour. Louanne, Delacour actually, but you can just call me Lou if you like."

"Louanne. Pretty," Hermione nodded.

"Thanks." I sat back in the seat and looked around the room. Harry, Ron, and Hermione. They seem alright. It took me a second to realize what she said. "Wait...Harry?" I looked at the boy next to me. "As in Potter?!"

"Oh uh, yeah," he replied, blushing.

"That's cool. I bet you guys have big plans for this year huh? Gonna slay another Basilisk?" I wasn't trying to be rude, I was just excited. It was the redhead, Ron's, turn to speak. He leaned forward and started getting defensive.

"Well it's not like we go looking for trouble," he sat back and calmed down. "Trouble just usually find us."

Hermione shook her head, "Yeah."

I just sat there, staring out the window two seats next to me. "Oh, weren't you all talking before I came in. Don't let me bug you." I dug through my leather satchel and found my music player and headphones. "Aha," I mumbled.

Ron looked at me with confusion. "What the heck is that?" he said pointing to the device in my hands.

"Oh, it's a walkman. A sort of portable record player." I walked over and put the headphones into the walkman and put the headphones on his head. "Here." I played one of my favorite songs. He just stared at me for a second, and I leaned against the wall of the compartment and window holding my controller. After the confusion wore off, he started to bob his head to the music and I lifted the headphones up off his head.

"Okay, that's enough. I still need my battery. Plus, you all looked kinda annoyed when I interrupted earlier. Carry on." I walked back to my seat and put one of the headphone speakers on my right ear facing them. But instead of putting the other one on my ear, I tucked it back behind my left and let my blonde hair fall over the empty space. I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the seat. I may seem polite to most people, but I'm curious. And information is valuable. They get into mischief and fun every year, and if I want to be let into the loop...let's just say they wouldn't trust me with anything yet.
