As soon as I got off of Buckbeak, Draco marched forward. I high-fived him as a sign of luck when I went past to regroup with the trio. I received many pats on the back before I heard shouting around me. I turned around to see Draco standing directly in front of Buckbeak as the creature reared up on it's back legs. Frick.
Draco was soon laying on the ground clutching his right arm tightly and rolling around. "It's killed me! It's killed me!" Draco whined. People stared at him, and a few laughed. I knew he was just being dramatic, but surely it still had to hurt. Hermione spoke before I got the chance.
"Hagrid, he has to be taken to the hospital wing!" The teacher snapped out of whatever trance he was in and immediately rushed over to Draco, scooping him up to take him to Madame Pomfrey. In a way, Draco deserved it. but I'm his friend, so I can't say that. Not to his face at least. Needless to say, class was dismissed a few minutes early. School was finally out for the day and I survived it all.
With a tense breath out I went over to the rock I had set my satchel on. People dispersed quickly in their huddled groups. The tree branches in front of me moved as I shouldered my bag. Two yellow eyes stared back at me within the confines of the bushes. But in a blink, whatever it was was gone. Probably just my mind messing with me.
I walked back to the castle with a large group of people, some of which I did not know. The trio introduced me to two friends of theirs named Dean and Neville. Seamus, Parvati, Katie, and Lavender were all there too. But Parvati and Lavender didn't stay long, seeing how they rushed up to the dormitory giggling about something. Seriously, they are always giggling.
Now that the day was done until dinner, I wanted to do something fun. "What do you guys do for fun here?" I turned around to face them, now walking backwards. They all looked at each other.
Ron was the first to answer, "Prank people-well, that's mostly just what my brothers actually."
"Study." Hermione's answer was so predictable. "It's not just fun, it's useful too," she pointed out.
"Investigate. I mean, each year there's always something going on but I guess that's not necessary now," Harry said. I was losing hope in having an adventure-filled year here.
"Oh come on! There has to be something to do," I turned around and kicked a rock in front of me. We entered the Great Hall as I remembered what had last taken place here. I turned around quickly and parted through the group following me, and almost running into a Hufflepuff on my way to the stairs.
"Where the bloody hell are you going?" Ron yelled to me. I stopped on the cobblestone stairs and turned back around.
"To go get my blue book. See you guys at dinner!" I ran all the way up the stairs not even pausing to look back at them again.
I got to the first flight of moving stairs. Already I didn't like them. Even below the first flight of stairs on the ground floor, there was a big dark abyss one misstep away. Despite this, I stepped one foot onto the sandy-colored step and then the other, almost immediately falling backward when it moved straight away. I grabbed onto the railing and just stood there for a moment, contemplating getting somebody to accompany me, but that would mean I'd have to get back off.
Before I could stall any longer, I heard a voice call out my name.
"Louanne!" I looked all around me for the source of the voice. "Over here!" I looked to my left as the stairs moved again, to see Hermione waving her arms above her head. As if on cue, the stairs rounded back to the platform. She easily stepped onto the stairs and walked up the next two so she was now standing next to me, leaning back against the railing.
