I don't know what happened but I just found myself following them to where they were going. I just pretended that I was going to the canteen which is on the same direction.
They went inside the guidance office, probably reporting what happened earlier which I have no clue.
After a few minutes, our teacher went out of the office and saw me outside. "Atlas, can you wait for Serene here? Our head is asking for my presence right now." she asked me.
I just nodded because I have no choice and it's kind of a blessing for me, it's one step to find new friends. Not so long, Serene went out.
She was shocked when she saw me sitting on the bench in front of the office. I stood up. "Hi! I'm Atlas. Our teacher asked me to wait for you." I started the conversation.
He was feeling nervous for she was looking for him awkwardly. After a while, she smiled and initiated a handshake.
"Nice to meet you, Atlas. I'm Serene." she said.
We had the handshake. I also smiled back but full of awkwardness. Who wouldn't?
"Not that I'm meddling with your business but would you mind to share what happened earlier?" I asked her while we're on our way back.
She looked down and made her steps little. "I was bullied earlier, well I have always been." she sadly said.
I stopped in front of her, held her face and lifted it up. "What? There is nothing to insult about you." I told her.
"You can say that now because you're new here and you don't know me well." she said sarcastically.
"Would you let me know you more then?" I answered back which left her speechless.
"They label me as a freak. Every student here calls me that." she said teary-eyed. There really is something with her eyes.
I hugged her. "You are not a freak." I said.
We ended our hug and she looked at me. "I'm color blind." she uttered while trying to prevent her tears from falling.
Atlas was slightly astonished with the sudden revelation but still, it isn't enough to label someone as freak.
"I see colors differently." Serene stated.
"But that doesn't change the fact that you are no different from us." Atlas said.
It started a strong bond between them. She learned to embrace her flaw. He came to her rescue everytime. They were partners in crime.
Serene felt comfortable with him and so is Atlas. Who would have thought that they'll be close for the rest of the year?
"We should take a picture with Serene's family!" Atlas' mother exlcaimed and so they did.
On their Graduation Day, a group picture of Atlas' and Serene's family was taken. It wasn't just their friendship that went stronger, their families' bond did too.
