Mrs. Smith let out a sob at the sight of her daughter. Her entire face was obscured by bandages and band-aids and other basic medical relief to stop the excessive bleeding and hide the places she had been operated on, but besides her face, she looked completely fine and nothing like someone who had been in a gruesome accident with only a few scratches here and there.
Mr. Smith held on to his wife when she turned to bury her face in his chest and although, he was trying to stay strong for her, it was clear from the way he was letting out heavy breaths that he was finding it difficult not to cry, showing that he was still human and he cared dearly for the daughter who now lay on a standard clinical bed with barely any hopes of ever waking up.
Jade had her brother, Maria had her husband and Jessica had herself because she was the only one she needed and well, he had no one because the person he had had and was meant to be comforting at the time, had not only broken things off with him that very day, but also ended up being the reason they were all out of their houses, and at a poorly serviced hospital at almost eleven in the night, and it was all his fault.
Keith made a move to walk in with the others, wanting to hold her hand and apologize for putting her in such a position. But that wasn't to be the case because as he was about to walk in, Jessica pushed right past him from behind then came to stand in his way. "The sign says only family members are allowed during visiting hours Keith-" She said, spitting out his name with all the venom she could muster then she finished, "So get your sorry self out of here and piss off." Then she slammed the door in his face, leaving him to stand there; outside, with a dumbfounded look on his face.
That was strike two; shutting him out when he had been more of family to Jasmine in the three years they had known one another than he had had in his entire life. He could only hope that Jasmine would wake up before she pulled off strike three and he would just as well blow a fuse.
With an exhale, he shoved his hands into his pockets, knowing it would be pointless trying to argue his way in after already getting on their bad side by being the cause of everything. He couldn't exactly say he wasn't expecting all the harsh treatment he received because he did. He had met all five of them one too many times for family gatherings Jasmine never let him miss or during miscellaneous times when they all just happened to cross paths so he knew just how the family worked. They were extremely protective of each other to a point that it made them do things that would make them appear crazy and although he thought so in his mind, he never voiced it out because Jasmine was always there to balance it out by making jokes or help him go along with the flow. But with his current position in the whole ordeal, the only thing he could do was take a step back because he knew that the only way they were ever letting him back into their inner circle, was if he got Jasmine back and in order for him to do that, she had to, first of all, be awake or in the very least; alive.
With that thought in mind, he pulled out his phone, dialed someone's number then brought it to his ear. Once the person answered, he made arrangements for her to be transferred to one of the best hospitals in the city while he worked up a plan, one that could perhaps change things for the better.

Keith had expected that it would happen once or twice, maybe thrice, given it was concerning the Smith family and not just any regular set of people. But it wasn't just their crazy selves, it was crazy plus furious so he could understand if it even happened four times. What he didn't expect though was that he would be the one paying the hospital bills and he still wouldn't be allowed into the hospital room that he was literally paying for; because in the standard truth of things, the room belonged to him and not them. Surely, that fact had to mean something to them, and sadly enough for him, it did mean something but as they had been doing the entire time since Jasmine got bedridden in a hospital, they shocked him once again by giving it a completely different meaning from what he thought.
