Jasmine had a smile on her face as she made her way up the stairs. She was ready for their picnic; which she knew from experience were the best ways, asides from going to the library for her to have fun with him. Speaking of him, Jasmine glanced down at the diamond ring on her finger and she smiled. She had heard from many of her friends (most of whom were already married at the time) that once a girl was engaged, it would become all they ever thought about. When she heard it, she laughed and said, there was no way she could ever think of something so long that she would forget her precious books. They tried to argue and some even placed bets she came to realize she now owed because they were right. It was all she ever thought about, even while she was reading a book.

Laughing at herself for thinking about it so much, she pushed the door into his apartment open then walked in. She set the basket on the cabinet close to the door then started heading towards his study, knowing it was where he sent basically all of his time. She was already imagining him typing away on his computer with a serious look as he tried to perfect a code or crack a particular file open. She had never thought in all her years that she would say such a thing but after spending three years with the man, it got easier for her to say it and she did love to say it when she was talking with friends. 'Her man was hot when he was behind a screen, any kind of screen.'

She got to the study, expecting to burst in and surprise him but when she got there, there was no reaction, he wasn't there. Confused, she wondered where he could be hiding. She hadn't called before coming but he knew they were having a picnic at noon so she expected him to be there, getting ready. Remembering this, she quickly marched to his bedroom to see if she could catch him shirtless with a sly grin on her face.

As soon as she got there, a sound had her freezing in her tracks. The door was slightly ajar so she could barely see what was happening on the inside but she was sure of what she heard and had a feeling that if she opened the door just a little further, she wouldn't recover from it but she did it anyway, knowing she would still find out someday and then was no time better than the present

Just as she had feared, he stood there with another woman and he had a smile on his face as she caressed his cheek. She didn't need to hear what she was saying, she didn't care. All she knew was she was either extremely stupid to not have guessed that a man like him would certainly never go for a girl like her and actually stay committed or he really had her fooled. None of the options were making her feel any better so she just decided to make her presence known.

Immediately, the two jumped away from each other as if they had been burned but it didn't matter, she had seen enough and the look of fear in his eyes simply confirmed what she thought.

"I've been called a number of things, naïve, childish, nerdy, unsociable but thanks to you, I can add foolish to that list. Hope you're happy now, most likely overjoyed, I can imagine that you no longer have to pretend like you care for the boring little library girl." She spat, struggling to take off the ring but finally succeeding and throwing it right at his chest.

She spun around on her heel, grateful she hadn't brought too much, just a basket she no longer cared for and a few other items that stayed in her pockets. She heard him call after her but she didn't answer and she didn't dare look back, not when tears had begun to well up in her eyes as she thought about how foolish she had been. If she was going to walk out of a relationship with a man who wasn't even decent enough to end things with her and started seeing someone else, she was going to do it with her dignity and with her head held high.
