The sounds of voices talking woke Amanda and she groaned, wanting to go back to sleep.  She felt Sina’s warm breath against her chest and she wrapped her arms a little tighter around the sleeping girl.  Running her fingers along Sina’s arm, she realised she couldn’t get back to sleep.  She drew small patterns on the other girl’s soft skin and felt Sina start to shift next to her.

Amanda smiled as she felt Sina cuddle into her more; she continued to run her fingers up and down the girl’s arm, lightly tracing her nails over the sensitive spots on her inner arm, causing her to stir slightly.

“Amanda, sleep,” Sina softly spoke, moving her arm away.

“It’s time to get up, sweetie, everyone else is awake,” Amanda told her, moving the lose strand of hair out of Sina’s face.

“I don’t care, I want to sleep the day away,” she responded, moving her arm back across Amanda’s stomach.

“Sina, come on get up.  I need to get up too and it’s a bit hard with you lying across me almost,” Amanda explained, trying to get the other girl to wake up fully.

Sina released her grip on Amanda and rolled onto her back, pulling the blanket up over her face.  Getting up Amanda headed to the bathroom and returned a few minutes later.

“Sina, it’s time to get up,” Amanda said, sitting next to the girl.

“Later,” Sina whined, not looking forward to the day.

rom across the room, Sinead noticed that the two teenagers were finally awake.  She lightly tapped Aisling on the arm and pointed her head in their direction.  Making their way over to them, they noticed that Sina was still trying to sleep.

“Hey girls,” Aisling said, sitting down next to them.

“Hey,” Amanda replied, lightly poking Sina.

Sinead sat down too and looked at the sight in front of her.  “When Aisling refuses to get up some mornings, I slowly trickle water over her face or put ice down her shirt, makes her get right up,” she said, giving Amanda some ideas.

“No, no water or ice,” Sina mumbled into the blanket.

“Then get up,” Amanda said, pulling the blanket away from her.

“You’re a meanie,” Sina pouted giving in and sitting up.

“Only when the need arises,” Amanda giggled, wrapping her arms around Sina as the girl leaned against her.

“We actually have something to ask you two,” Aisling said, looking at the two; she was ninety percent sure they were together but didn’t know for sure.

Amanda and Sina shared a look before facing the two Irish women.

“Tobias told us last night that something happened and you two and he were awake when it occurred.  We trust you two more than him and would like to know what actually happened,” Sinead said, looking at them and noticing the relief on their faces.

“I was going in and out of sleep last night and I felt the building shake.  Amanda woke up and we felt it shake a few more times.  A loud bang echoed and Tobias woke up.  We went to investigate, found the lights weren’t working, the water had risen and the window was cracked on floor thirty-six I think.  There were some exposed cables that got wet and Tobias took care of it.  After than we came back up here and went to sleep,” Sina explained in brief, looking at the two women.

“Tobias didn’t tell us about the cracked window or the cable,” Aisling quietly said, looking to Sinead.

“No, he didn’t,” Sinead confirmed, looking towards the fireman.
