Day 3

07:00 AM. – Intelligence. – New South Wales, Australia.

Seeing the light on his console flash and beep, the young technician looked at it oddly as all lines of communication were down.  Putting in his earpiece he accepted the call.  He listened to what the person on the other end was telling him as he pushed a few more buttons, putting the person on hold.

“Ma’am, I don’t know how but we have a call from the Irish Speciality Unit, they want to speak to you,” the technician said, getting up and handing the earpiece to his commanding officer.

Placing the device in her right ear, Admiral Valerie Elaine King looked to the technician, “Put them on loud speaker,” she said, nodding to the man to take the call off hold.

“This is Admiral Valerie King, what may I do for you?” she asked, her voice strong, carrying the authority that she held.

“Admiral King, this is Vice Admiral Sage O’Mason from the Irish Speciality Unit.  We’ve just received word that Sydney was hit by the tsunami after an earthquake almost destroyed the islands of New Zealand.  We currently have two of our best officers in that city and we know that they’re alive.  Their GPS trackers are still activated and sending us a signal.  We’ve narrowed down their location to being on the top five floors of the Crypton building and we need you to contact them for us and inform them to abort their mission and return home as soon as they can,” the other woman said, her words laced with an Irish accent.

“Vice Admiral, we’re currently investigating that building at the moment.  We’ve pulled up the schematics for it and have noticed that it has more floors than it has listed and we’re trying to find out what they are for.  Would we be able to use your officers to gather more information from inside of the building until the water drains enough from the city to be able to evacuate the people or at least for the storms to settle so we can send in one of our helicopters to rescue the people who have managed to survive this great catastrophe?” Admiral King asked, hoping the other woman would allow for it.

“You can use them but the second it clears enough to get my people out of that building, I expect them to be at the top of your list for rescue,” the Vice Admiral spoke, her voice carrying the same amount of authority as Admiral King’s.

“That can be arranged.  What are the details of these two officers?” King asked, wanting to know more.

“Their names are Sinead and Aisling; two of Ireland’s finest.  Even though they have only been with us for six months, they have accomplished more in that short amount of time than some of our finest officers achieved in six years.  Physically, they’re are of small stature, five-foot-three and five-foot-two, both brunette, Aisling has brown eyes, Sinead has blue; both Caucasian and can get any job done.  They should have a communications device on them so you may be able to contact them,” O’Mason informed King.

“Thank you for that.  Do you know if any other countries are being affected by any type of disaster at the moment or is it only Australia and New Zealand?” King asked as her group of people hadn’t been able to figure anything out.

“Most countries are having some kind of problems at the moment.  Over here in Ireland, it won’t stop snowing; the snow has encompassed most of our cities, making them inaccessible.  The United States has been hit by earthquakes, floods and hurricanes and Europe is having snow and massive storms.  We’re all on our own now.  The worldwide web is down and so are most forms of communication,” the Irish woman recited, strain evident in her voice.

“Please keep us informed if anything else happens around the world, Vice Admiral O’Mason,” King said, as she signalled for communications to be cut.
