On My Own - Kyoya Story

Chapter 2

Kyoya and Yu hadn't been fighting for long, perhaps a few minutes. However, Kyoya was already annoyed at how long the battle had gone on, with Libra dodging many of Leone's attacks. *So much for finishing this quickly.*

"This is my and Libra's new special move for ya!" Yu called, throwing his hand in the air. "Libra, final inferno blast!"

A beam of light exploded from Yu's bey, shooting up into the sky like a laser. The ground shook beneath Kyoya. He stared in awe at the light as the familiar ringing sound pierced the air like a blade.

Across the stadium, Yu was laughing. "Psych!" he exclaimed once he stopped. "Final inferno blast is many times more powerful than inferno blast was, as you can clearly see."

Kyoya stared down at Leone. His Beyblade was being pulled in toward the light, completely out of Kyoya's control.

"Can Leone handle it?" Yu was goading him on. "It'll be swallowed by the supersonic light and then sleep out!"

Kyoya just grinned at Yu. "You shouldn't take me lightly either!" He swung his arm, returning his gaze to his Beyblade. "Leone! Special move! King Lion Crushing Fang!"

Leone's rotation straightened. Then, instead of trying to escape the supersonic light, it charged straight into it. Leone collided with the wall of light with its own wall of wind, eventually breaking through and slamming right into Libra. The supersonic light disappeared.

"What?!" Yu gasped as the two Beyblades landed back on the ground. "You actually survived my new special move?!"

"One attack didn't finish it?!" Kyoya grunted to himself.

"It's not over yet!" Yu retorted, gesturing for Libra to charge forward. "This battle's just getting started!"

"This time I'll finish you!" Kyoya called, commanding Leone to charge.

Just before their Beyblades could collide, a new Beyblade zipped between them, pushing Leone and Libra back. Kyoya and Yu gasped in unison. Their Beyblades flew in their hands as Kyoya and Yu looked up to see a new figure on top of one of the walls of the ruins. They were no taller than Yu and were hopping back and forth letting out strange noises.

"Who's that guy?!" Kyoya asked, staring at the figure in confusion. The sounds were almost human-like but their face was hidden by a strange-looking mask.

"It's the monster thingy!" Yu exclaimed, his eyes wide.

The Beyblade flew into the newcomer's hand before they hopped down the wall and disappeared on the other side. Kyoya stared at the spot they disappeared.

"Yeehaw!" Yu cheered, hopping up like a rabbit. "There really is a monster after all! Did you see them there? They had a really scary face for sure!"

It took Kyoya a moment to realize Yu was probably talking to him.

"What was that Bey?" Kyoya asked aloud.

"Hey, let's chase after him!" Yu suggested, running up to Kyoya. "We're here to get rid of the monster, aren't we?"

"Say what?" Kyoya asked, his eyes going wide.

Without warning, Yu grabbed Kyoya's hand and tried to drag him forward.

"You said that's why you came here!" Yu insisted, "Hurry up now!"

Kyoya yanked his hand away, blazing with anger. "Don't touch me!" he snapped, glaring down at the shorter kid. "If you want to go, go by yourself! I don't team up with anyone, understand?!"

"No touchy-touchy?" Yu gave him puppy dog eyes. "Why not? Why not?"

"I am a lion that lives in the wild!" Kyoya replied, without thinking. "I sharpen my fangs alone! I fight alone!"
