The New Girl

New City

Two and half hours later my family and I arrived in Mississippi. Ahead of time we bought our house and registered for school so she had nothing to stress over .
We had a week before we started to go to school and I decided I wanted to get to know the place . So when we got home I took the boxes out the truck and kissed my mom goodbye .
" wait where are you going ?!"
" to see what type of city we are living in . I will be back soon"
" but you don't know nothing about this place "
" that's why I'm going ma, I will find my way back " I said while shutting the door and hoping in my car . I pulled out the driveway and drove down the street and made a right .
As I drove I paid close attention to my surroundings . I mean like I thought New Orleans looked bad but hey I did choose this place.
After a couple of minutes of driving I decided to go look at the school I would be attending.
I pulled up to Jim Hill High School. The school was not bad looking but I could use some work . I saw a lot of hard head niggahs standing in front the school doing nothing . While sitting there I thought about what my dad would think of me right now and these steps in taking to make my life better. Like moving to a whole new city , enrolling my siblings and I in an academic program and just helping my mother out. I knew he would be proud and that started my motivation.

I decided to get something to eat . Well I didn't decide my stomach did. I drove to this place called E & L's barbecue and got out the car.
This place was packed but I was hungry . I order me a 6 piece wings with fries with some of their special sauce on the side. I got some food for my family and headed back home .
15 minutes later I pulled up in the driveway of my house . It didn't take as long as I thought it would be to get back but hey . But then I did have a GPS.
I called my brother and sister in the kitchen to eat and then monsters devoured the food like they ain't eat in months .
I laughed while going back upstairs to check on my mom. I walked in her room and she was unpacking clothes .
" I brought some food if you are hungry momma"
" thank you baby " she said smiling at me . As I started to walk out the door she says " oh yeah don't forget I start to go to work in two days ken"
" okay mom"
I walked down the hallway to my room and closed the door. I sat on the bed and looked around for a few seconds until my phone started to vibrate .
It was Kam.
•hey bigHEAD how you like it up there? Did you meet some hillbillies yet?
~ lol no but it's okay so far. They got some good barbecue.
• lol good and you always did like to eat but Wyd
~ nothing about to finish unpacking
• okay well text me when your done

Then I put my phone on my dresser and began to unload the clothes out of the boxes.

When I was finally done it was 11 o'clock and I need to shower .
I took a 30 minute shower and did my hygiene thing . Then I dried myself off and put some lotion on . I got back in the bed to text Kam knowing he was probably sleep . But surprisingly he replied.

~ no I just sent you a message on my break 😂
• oh so you sarcastic now
~ no I just answer you slow questions with a smart answer
• lol okay, okay . I can't wait till you come and visit but goodnight Kenedi.

After a few minutes I dozed off and was sleeping like a baby.

The next morning I woke up to the smell of a warm breakfast cooked . I brushed my teeth quickly and ran down stairs . I stopped in the doorway of the kitchen with big eyes and drowl coming from the side of my mouth.
Mommy had cooked bacon, eggs, sausage, grits , biscuits , pancakes. And my most favorite chicken and waffles.
" momma what's the special occasion." I said filling my two plates.
" I needed to work this new kitchen and this was the best way."
" well are you doing this for lunch and diner "
She laughed and said " well for lunch I was going to take you and the twins out some where to spend some time together but for dinner yes."
I did my little happy dance and kissed my momma on the cheek as I went to the dining room table to eat.
When I was almost done my brother and sister came down and ate. I swear they eat faster than a cheetah can run.

After I finished I went up stairs to get dressed .
I decided to wear a blue and purple shirt some khaki shorts and my grapes. I put my hair in a high bun. As usual I didn't need no make up so I put some lip gloss on then sat on my bed to text Kam back .
It was about 30 minutes before everyone was ready to go but we all head to my momma all white Range Rover with black and white interior designs . My mom pulled out the driveway and headed down the street . I asked her where we was going but she told to wait until we got there.

15 minutes later we pulled up a bowling alley . I loved bowling . I used to play all the time with my dad when he was alive and we use to make these little bets on who was going to win . We use to have the most fun playing around . I really miss him but I gotta show these rookies how to play .
We got out the car and my momma paid at the counter. We got our shoes and headed to our lane.
First we put our names on the board. I was Kenny , mommy was Mommy Duck, tre was Lil Man , and Kassidy was Classy. Now it's time to handle the business.
I was first and my first roll was a strike .
" beat that !" I said sticking my tongue out laughing .
My mom got up and said " watch and see"
She got a strike too and started bragging like she just won the Olympics.
" you learn fast young jaguar " I said laughing
We played a couple of rounds and me and Man got tied a lot. After a while we got hungry so I went to the concession stand .
I got two slices of pizza. Some nachos and a hot dog with 4 larger sprites.
" 12.49 is your total."
I handed the cashier a 20 dollar bill and started to text some people . 2 minutes later and the food was ready . I quickly turned around and slammed straight into something hard making the drinks and food get all over me .
I was in a moment of shock and anger until hear someone apologizing . I looked up and it was some tall brown skinned dude . He was cute and all but that wasn't my main concern right now . I looked up with a face of disgust and walked back to our lane.
" mom I'm ready to go"
" why we are having " she stopped mid sentence when she saw my clothes .
" okay let's get home then "
My little brother and sister wined but I didn't care . I make it up to them another time .
As we were walking out the door that same brown skin boy ran up to me apologizing again .
" look it's no big deal . I will just go home and change " I said getting irritated . As I tried to walk away I felt someone grab my arm. I turned around and I was him again .
" aye look my name Quan . Here is my number so let me make this up to you. Again I'm really sorry ." He said giving me a piece of paper with a number on it . I took it and walked to the car.

As my mom was driving I started to think. SUCH A GREAT NEW CITY THIS IS .
