Chapter 2- Home Sweet Home

<TIME SKIP>
I arrived at the great hall and took my seat next to Seamus and directly opposite Neville with Dean seated next to him. Dumbledore made his speech and it was just as boring as ever, as the feast began I kept noticing Seamus staring at me through the corner of your eye but I thought nothing off it.
Well...to be completely honest I did wish he was staring at me. I always wondered if he would like me more than a friend because...I wasn't sure if I liked him romantically. I knew for sure I didn't like Neville or Dean more than a friend but when it came to Seamus..I sometimes..questioned it. Anyway, I didn't want to think anything of it because I know he would never like me. I'm pretty sure he sees me as a sister to him.

Moving on.. just as the feast was about to end Dumbledore stepped up to make an announcement.
"Silence! Silence please!" he calmly shouted as he tapped a fork on his glass.
"Now, i'm not sure if any of you know about this but there has been many..requests..for Hogwarts to host annual balls or formal parties. Now..after speaking with the rest of your teachers we have decided that this year we are going to host a Yule Ball. You will need to find a date but if you don't have one you are still free to come." <pretend that the yule ball isn't what they have for the triwizard tournament and pretend it's just a fancy name for a ball> Throughout the hall I hear boys moaning and girl whispering and giggling to each other. "I'm sorry to say that this is only available for third year and above. However, if you are in year 2 and someone asks you to go, that is okay. I'm sorry to all of you sad looking first years. Now if you could please find your way to your dormitories and look out for any lost first years on the way," Dumbledore says as he steps down and walks back to his seat.

Voices suddenly echo the hall, everyone seems pretty excited to go to the ball....except me.
I knew that no one would probably ask me so I knew I would end up either going alone or not going at all.
"Who you asking to the ball?" Seamus asks Dean and Neville as you guys stand up and start walking out.
"I'm planning on asking Ginny. Hopefully it will lead to something more then. What about you guys?" Dean says.
"Well i wanted to ask Luna but i'm not sure if she sees me as just a friend," Neville says glumly.
"Omg Neville you should definitely ask her. I've shipped you guys since day one," I say, hoping this will convince him to ask her.
"Really! Thanks Ava, that's nice to know. Who do you want to ask you Ava?" Neville asks you.
"erm..i'm not really sure. i don't really mind who i go with as long as their not boring," I tell them as we approach the common room.
I tell the fat lady the password to the common room and we walk in and slump ourselves on the couch. There's no one else in the common room, only people walking up to the dorms.
"So you would go with a random dude?" Dean says laughing.
"well..as long as their not in Slytherin yeah. i'd rather go with a random guy then not go at all," I reply.
"what about you Seamus you haven't spoke since we were eating!" Dean says as we all turn our heads towards him.
"oh..erm..i-i know know yet.." Seamus trails off.
"Well you better hurry up before all the good ones are gone," Neville jokes, which makes us all laugh because he wouldn't normally say something like that.
<TIME SKIP>
I woke up the next morning to Hermione pulling me out of bed shouting at me get up. Me and Hermione were quite close seeing she was bestfriends with my twin and always came over to the Burrow. She was the only other girl that I was really friends with in Gryffindor, apart from Ginny of course..but that was different because we were sisters and she was in the year below.
"Come on wake up!" she yelled at me.
"Ughhhh i hate mornings," I groan.
"I know. Waking you up every morning is the only thing i didn't miss at Hogwarts," she says making us both laugh.
"Okay okay i'm up." I say, as I pull the covers off me and stand up."
"Oh and Ava i need to talk to you about something." she says.
It's probably about Harry or Ron. I like talking to Hermione, she was nice. But..sometimes she can be a little boring. You see..i'm smart. Well, could be smart. I never listen in class so half the time i'm not sure what she's on about but she makes it seem like basic knowledge so I go along pretending I know about it all because I don't want to seem dumb.
"It's about Ron and the Yule Ball," she continues.
I was correct. And i know exactly what she wants to say.
"continue.." i say, pretending i didn't know what she was about to say as i got out some clothes out to wear today. <it is Saturday today>
"well i was wondering if you knew who he was going with, or who he wants to go with," she says.
I was correct. Again. Duh.
"well sorry but i haven't actually seen him since dinner so he wasn't spoke to me about it yet." i reply.
"oh okay..that's fine," she says almost sounding disappointed.
It goes silent for a few minutes.
"I could find out for you though, maybe tell him to ask you, assuming that's what you wanted," I say, breaking the silence.
"you'd do that for me!" she says in a surprised tone.
"anything for a friend." I say, smiling at each other.

I did sometimes wish that me and Hermione were closer. I used to be close in first year but when I stopped paying attention in my classes and started caring more about pranks with my older twin brothers, and she was more interested in books, we grew apart. I wished we didn't grow apart, now conversations with her never last more that five minutes, which is sad considering she was actually my first friend at Hogwarts. Anyway, I got dressed and walked down to the great hall alone, she had already left because she said I was taking too long.
