This is not a dirty preference! I think it's pretty damn adorable! Basically, you have a daughter/son from another relationship and this is the first time they call him daddy.
Calum:
"Cal... I'm nervous. It's her first father's day without her dad..." You looked down and sighed, not knowing what to do.
"(Y/N, everything will be okay. She shouldn't be too upset about this. You talked to her about it the other day anyways, so she shouldn't have a problems with it."
"Calum, after James left she has been fine, but she's at day care on father's day. All of the other kids are probably talking about doing cool things with their dads, and the teacher is probably having them do art projects for their dads and she doesn't have a dad for that. As much as I've hoped she would come to think of you as her dad over the past few weeks, it just hasn't' happened and now I don't know what to do if she's upset over this...."
You were on your way to pick up your 5 year old daughter from day care on father's day. When your daughter, Megan, was 2 you and her dad, James, broke up, and when she was 3 you started dating Calum. About 10 months ago James completely left. He told you that he didn't want to see you or Megan anymore, because it was too hard. That\'s when you and Megan moved in with Calum.
You've been hoping that Megan would begin to consider Calum her dad after James was gone, but it hadn't happened yet.
Once you were in the day care center, you walked over with Calum to find Megan coloring on a pink piece of paper that was shaped like a heart.
"Mummy! Guess what day it is? It's father's day! We all made pictures for our daddies!"
You looked down at her sadly for a moment before she ran over to Calum, showing him the paper. "This is for you! It's me and you and mummy!" She pointed to the stick figures she drew on the paper before handing it to Calum.
On the top it said-
To: Daddy
From: Megan
Luke:
"I suck at this!" Your seven year old son, Ty, was trying to do his math homework, but he just couldn't understand it.
"Mummy! Help!"
You looked over at Ty, who was sitting at the kitchen table working on his homework while you worked on cooking dinner.
"Ty, I'm cooking. I can't help right now. Why don't you as d-Luke to help you?" You smiled at him and he huffed, but nodded, walking into the living room to ask Luke for help.
"Luke... I don't understand this. We have to take away 19 from 36... It doesn't make any sense."
He handed Luke the paper and climbed onto the couch next to him, watching carefully as Luke showed him the steps to answering the simple subtraction problem, making sure he understood everything before letting him do the rest, checking over them and helping him do any that he got wrong.
Before running off to put his homework away and watch TV, Tyler looked up at Luke and gave him a huge smile. "Thanks dad!"
He didn't give Luke a chance to reply, but that night Luke didn't stop smiling and every chance he got he would talk about how Ty finally called him dad for the first time. He even called the boys just to tell them about it.
Michael:
"Hey uh... Michael..." Your twelve year old daughter walked into the kitchen where Michael was sitting reading the newspaper while you washed the dishes.
"Yeah, what's up sweetheart?" He looked over and gave her a huge smile, setting the paper aside on the table so he could give Alyssa, your daughter, his full attention.
"Well, this Friday at school they're having a Father-Daughter Valentine's Day dance and..." Michael's face lit up as soon as those words came out of her mouth. "I was wondering if you would go with me, as my dad... I know you aren't my real dad, but you're the closest I'll ever have, so..." she looked down nervously, praying that Michael would say yes.
"Of course I'll come with you. It means a lot to me, knowing that you want me there. You know you can call me 'dad' if you want to. I've actually been hoping you would start sometime soon. I have been around for a good three years now." Michael laughed softly and pulled her into a hug.
She nodded happily and smiled. "Well, if it's okay with you that I call you dad, then I'm going to start calling you that... I've been wanting to for a while but I didn't want you to get mad, and I really didn't know how to ask, you know?'
You could tell by the look on Michael's face that he was ecstatic about the news.
Ashton:
Your four year old son was currently running around the house in circles, holding Ashton's drumsticks in his hands, wearing the bandana on his head (incorrectly, since he put it on himself), and screaming "drums! Drums! Drums!" while he persisted to hit every surface in your house with your boyfriend's drumsticks.
"Oliver, honey, what are you doing?" Ashton picked him up, laughing softly.
Oliver grinned widely, tapping the drumsticks lightly on Ashton's shoulder. "I'm being just like you, daddy!"
Ashton's eyes lit up in happiness when Oliver called him daddy like it was normal. He had been waiting so long for this moment. "That's amazing Oli! You want to play the real drums. And I'll help you put the bandana on so it doesn't fall off and then you can show mummy!" Ashton grinned as he spoke, excited that this was finally happening after being in Oliver's life for nearly a year and a half.
"Yeah!" the little boy ran off with Ashton to the music room where Ashton set him on the drum stool, putting a dictionary on it and making it as high as it could go so Oliver could reach the drums.
"(Y/N)! Come to the music room! Oli has something to show you!" Ashton called loudly.
You came rushing in and Ashton stood beside you, watching Oliver hit the drums as hard as he could. The noise wasn't very pleasant, but neither of you covered your ears, because you were both proud of Oliver.
Once he finally stop he looked up at you and smiled wide. "Look mummy! I'm just like daddy!" he got up and ran over to Ashton.
Ashton didn't shut up about it for a while, telling everyone about how Oliver now calls him daddy whenever he sees him. He was glad that the little boy liked him this much, because when he first came into Oliver's life he was scared that the little boy wouldn't like him, and now look where he is!
