The rest of the weekend passed without much action, mostly just walking around for a bit and staying in your room. But today was Monday, and you were nervous as ever. Your first day of classes, and you were obsessing over everything. Literally you'd see like five people and they'd all seen you already BUT STILL. That blonde, Madison, was definitely judgy, you could smell it from a mile away. So you paced back and forth, waking up at four thirty just to get everything right even though classes didn't start until six. "It's fine, you'll be fine, y/n. Come on, it's just Myrtle and those other girls. No one special. Come on. But what if Cordelia is there? What if I embarrass myself?"
You continued to freak out quietly, your footfalls annoyingly loud in your head against the wood floor. Taking a few deep breaths, you centered yourself as best as you could before walking determinedly to your dresser, shoving through them until you found an outfit that you thought worked and pulling away. You knew if you questioned yourself again you'd never get dressed, so you just threw the stuff on, not even looking at yourself first. Still not looking, you marched over to your vanity, snatched your eyeliner, willing yourself to calm down and get your shit together so you could draw a straight line. You did, with some struggle, following it up with mascara, light blush, and, you know what, screw it, black lipstick.
And finally you looked at yourself, your entire body, and sighed. You looked fine. You were worried for nothing, this entire self-lecture was unnecessary. Everything was fine, you were fine, you looked good. Great, actually. Yeah girl, there you go, self confidence. Be the badass witch bitch that you are, come on! Yes!
Once you were sure you were ready, you checked the time, a little spark of happiness flaring in you when you saw you had an hour and a half before class. So you left your room, phone in your back pocket and earbuds in. Once in the kitchen, you did your usual; grab some coffee/tea, a bagel and cream cheese, and a plate. Sit down at the table. Dress your bagel. Eat said bagel. Scroll through Instagram whilst listening to music, currently "The Rush" by JJ Wilde. Boom. Easy enough, right? Yeah, right. You were about halfway through that routine when one of your earbuds was removed from your ear and a face was suddenly very close to yours as whoever did it pressed it into their ear, closing their eyes and vibing a bit to the beat.
Said person was Cordelia Foxx, and she opened her eyes to glance at you, smiling widely when she saw your shocked expression before pulling the earbud out and replacing it in your ear with a wink. She then stood up again, having had to crouch down to get to your level, and walked to the counter, making herself some tea. You watched her silently, still processing exactly what had just happened. When your brain finally caught up to your body, you closed your parted lips and removed that same earbud again to greet the headmistress properly. "G-Good morning Miss Cordelia." (can one call a married woman Miss [first name]? Cuz 'Misses Cordelia' sounds strange. idk)
