You were digging around in your nightstand drawer to try and find your headphones, taking things out and putting them back in, when a piece of paper fluttered down onto the floor. With a confused hum, you crouched down onto the balls of your feet, picking it up gently. It was black, but when you flipped it over you saw a long, seven-digit string of numbers. You were confused at first, but then you hissed, remembering exactly who it belonged to. You scrambled for your phone, dialing in the number frantically. You tapped your foot impatiently as you hoped the person hadn't forgotten you. "Hello?"
"Oh my god Sydnie, I am so fucking sorry. I promised to call you but then I got so caught up with what happened at the party and school and life in general that I completely forgot to call you, I am s--" "Woah, woah, y/n, calm down! It's alright, I completely understand. Life can get really overwhelming sometimes, but how've you been?" You chuckled, glad the girl wasn't upset at you. So you flopped down onto your bed, putting your phone on speaker so you could lay it down next to you and talk. "Oh, busy. I've been working on school, keeping the other girls out of trouble, all kinds of things." You heard a hum from the other end of the line before Sydnie said "Sounds fun. I've been working, job's been kinda stressful lately." You nodded and hummed in agreement, understanding the struggle.
The two of you talked for at least fifteen more minutes, giggling and chatting together and losing track of time. You were still talking when someone knocked on your door, so you said "Just a sec Syd" and called out "It's open!" Cordelia walked in then, and you smiled brightly. Quickly you picked up your phone and turned off the speaker before holding it to your ear and saying "Hey Sydnie, I gotta go. Yeah, for sure. I'll talk to you later. Love ya. Bye!" and hung up, tossing your phone down next to you and looking back to Cordelia. "Hey! Whatchya need?" The woman smiled as well and leaned casually on your door frame, crossing her arms over her chest as she talked; "Oh, I was just wondering what you were up to. You didn't come down to afternoon gathering, I thought you might be asleep."
You cringed and gave her a sheepish smile, scratching the back of your neck awkwardly. "Sorry, I guess I got caught up and lost track of time," you mumbled, hoping she wouldn't be upset. She didn't seem to be, which was a relief. "Oh, it's fine. We didn't go over anything too important. Who was that you were talking to?" Your face lit up and you grinned, scooching back on your bed a little further. "Oh, that was Sydnie, a girl I met at the party. That's why I wasn't with Madison." Your face lit up in a blush at the memory, and you looked away from Cordelia, slightly embarrassed. But the blonde only laughed and replied "Oh, wonderful. As long as you had fun and didn't do anything too..." she cleared her throat, unwilling to say it. But you understood and quickly shook your head and assured her nothing happened.
"No no no, don't worry. It was just...light stuff, yknow. Anyway," again you cleared your throat, standing up and brushing your pants off before glancing back up at Cordelia. "How have you been feeling, Delia?" you mumbled, still not quite used to being able to call her that. But when the woman smiled brightly whenever you did, it was worth it. "Better. It's still quite a...shock, you know. And I haven't told Hank yet. I don't know how he'll react..." she trailed off, averting her gaze to your bedroom floor and shifting her weight from foot to foot. But you walked up to her and placed your hands on each of her arms and said quietly "I'm sure he'll understand. If he really loves you, he will." The headmistress nodded and gave you a weak smile, so you pulled her in for a quick hug, which she reciprocated easily.
When the two of you pulled away you grinned, patting her arms once more before removing your hands. "So what do you have planned for today?" You asked, padding over to your nightstand and continuing your search for headphones. Meanwhile, Cordelia walked a little further into the room, closing your door and sitting down on your bed, which you didn't mind a bit. "Well, not much. Fiona took Madison out today, something about talking to her about what happened the other day." "What happened the other day?" "She, um, might have...thrown a knife at the neighbor's head and set her curtains on fire." The last bit was rushed out, and you laughed, leaning back and placing your hand on your chest. You gasped out "Of course she did," eyes closing as you imagined Madison Montgomery strutting out of a house on fire.
A few minutes later, you sniffed and said "So, Delia. What's really up?" The woman didn't say anything for a few minutes, not meeting your gaze. When she finally spoke it was quieter; "Nothing. I've just been feeling a bit...down. After what happened. And like I said, I haven't told Hank yet, he's out, on a business trip. But I..." she trailed off, once again not making eye contact. The woman was barely ever like this so you frowned, gesturing her forward and carefully pulling her onto your bed, where you sat cross-legged across from each other, hands clasped together between the two of you. "Alright, come on. What are you planning?" you asked, looking at her directly. She hesitated, clearly nervous. But you squeezed her hands a bit more and finally she mumbled "I have an appointment with Marie Laveau. For...for the fertility spell. It's to--" "Cordelia! No! Are you insane, you want to talk with the voodoo queen?!" "I-I....how do you even know about her?"
You huffed, rolling your eyes and replying "Because I do research. And I'm not stupid, you don't know what you're getting yourself into!" At your words Cordelia retracted her hands and pulled back, standing up quickly and hardening her expression. "Well it's already scheduled. And there's nothing you can do to stop me. I-I'm going to have a family, and you have no right to tell me what to do." Your eyes widened and you froze, lips parting in shock and tears involuntarily gathering in your eyes. "C-Cordelia--" "Stop." You swallowed roughly and stood up, your own face going stern. "Fine. Do whatever you want. But when she refuses to help you don't say I didn't tell you so." And you walked out, unwilling to let Cordelia see your tears fall from her harsh words.
You knew the blonde was making a mistake, but if she couldn't see that, then you refused to blame yourself for her indiscretions.
