It was chilly outside. She wished she'd come out better prepared for the bite in the air but it was too late to turn back now. She had to keep going but the trouble is, she didn't know where she was going.

Of course she had so many friends who would all happily let her stay the night and let her cry but...they'd never met her parents. They wouldn't understand the gravity of the situation that had just happened. It was only when she thought about it that it really hit home. She had made it as far as the local park and flopped onto the bench, her head in her hands with her hair covering her face and she sobbed silently.

She'd assaulted someone.
She'd been disowned by her parents.
She was walking the streets with nowhere to go.
She was distraught her parents were so unwilling to accept her as she was.

There was the sudden sound of other teenagers that hit her ears. She snapped her head up wiping her eyes and glanced around. It was getting dark now and she had to strain her eyes to see. She could see a group of boys, about five walking her way, smoking and being obnoxiously loud.

Now they may have been the nicest group in the world, but Baby didn't want to find out. They made her instantly uncomfortable and she got to her feet.
'Oi oi! What's this we've got here then?!' One of them shouted and Baby could feel her heart thump. She decided to pay them no mind and shoved her hands in her pockets, walking away quickly.

The trouble was she either had to walk past them or the same direction as them. She opted for the same direction so she didn't have to get close. The park was all but empty now and the tap tap of her boots on the pavement seemed loud. The park was so still and quiet, setting her on edge even more.

She was more than relieved when she made it onto the main road into town. Car headlights driving past, lights from shops and the highstreet just in front of her, people walking home from work, going to their tube stations further into the town. Her heart instantly relaxed and slowed as she felt safer in the sights and sounds of the inner city. It hit her then how far she'd already walked. Where was she going?

She didn't even care. She realised that in her stressful moment getting out the park she'd been twiddling something in her fingers anxiously. She pulled her hand out her pocket to find her headphones.
'Yes!' She smiled. A small victory but at least she didn't need to walk in silence. She plugged herself in, turned up the volume, stared at her feet getting lost in her thoughts and just walked.

She walked and walked until eventually, she found herself out of town and down a quiet street. The houses were small and squished together it reminded her of an old victorian street like she'd seen in books during her history lessons. The house she was looking up at seemed perfect. Like you'd picture in an advert. It's cold outside but it's not in there.

There's a tiny front garden, a waist-high hedge separating it from the street with a little straight path leading up to the door. The lights were on in the house giving it a warm glow, a stark comparison to the outside. The window to the left of the door was a front room, the lamps on inside giving it a cosy glow. The window to the right was the kitchen. In it was a beautiful middle-aged woman doing the dishes, smiling so sweetly at her husband who was drying up next to her. They both turned around at the same time to smile at someone entering the room and a tall dark-haired boy walked in.

'Jungkook...' Baby breathed seeing her boyfriend laughing with his parents in the kitchen. Her feet had carried her here, and that beautiful warm family inside was her boyfriends. It was all she'd ever wanted as a family. Not the cold, unsmiling workaholic parents she had who only spared her the time of day to tell her she needed to do better.

Before she could even think her feet were carrying her up the path.

She pulled her headphones out and knocked on the door and not a moment later Jungkook was there, opening the door spilling light onto Baby and her surroundings, warmth from inside brushing her cold cheeks
'Baby!' Jungkook breathed in surprised taking her hand and pulling her in as her eyes welled up. He instantly knew something was wrong.

'Oh hello dea-' But his mum couldn't finish. She realised there was something wrong.
'Take her into the living room sweetheart-' She said to Jungkook and gasped as she touched her hands taking her coat from her. '-oh darling your hands are frozen!' She mentioned kindly as she hung the coat up and Jungkook put his arm around her shoulders guiding Baby into the front room.

Not a moment or so later his dad appeared with a mug of hot chocolate with some cream and marshmallows ontop.
'Don't fret love. I'm sure it's nothing we can't fix eh?' A kind smile evident in his voice as he placed the mug in front of her on the table. His son still sat next to her with his arm around her shoulders keeping her close as she wiped her eyes on a tissue he'd handed her as they sat down, placing little kisses on her head as he tried to get her to explain what was wrong.

Baby started to explain, even with his parents there sat comfortably willing to listen because she felt safe. She felt like they weren't going to judge her and as she started to talk everything she'd kept bottled up just tumbled out. The stress she'd been under for years to always achieve high grades. The lack of love she felt and how they'd so easily kicked her out of the house for the smallest hiccup in her teenage years. They didn't even try to stand by her or hear her side of the story. They'd leave her alone to work even when she had a fever, they refused to try to understand her little space, and they wanted to stop her from seeing everyone if she stayed at home blaming her friends for her behaviour.
'And i've never felt like I have a caring home! I've always just been an inconvenience to them. I know I was an accident because I heard them talk about it once.' Baby finished with a big sob as Jungkook handed her another tissue and kissed the top of her head holding her close.

Jungkook looked at his mum. She was teary-eyed, clearly heartbroken for Baby. He watched his mum look at his dad who was looking a little emotional himself. They were such loving, caring people naturally and couldn't help but feel deeply for Baby. His parents both exchanged a look and his dad nodded at his mum who clasped her hands together mouthed a thank you.

Jungkook knew what was coming and he was ready for it. He'd never loved anyone more in his life.

'Baby. You can live here. We'd be honoured if you would call this house your home.' His mum smiled with tears in her eyes, getting out of her chair to hug Baby close. They would have loved a daughter but it never happened for them and they knew their son loved her with all of his heart.  She was all he ever spoke about at home. The reason he woke up with a smile in the mornings. The reason his whole attitude and outlook on his future had changed for the better. Letting them be together couldn't be a bad thing. She had changed their son in such a positive way and judging by how hard she was crying she was touched by their offer.

But she still hadn't accepted.

His parents glanced at him as Baby hid in his chest crying. He chuckled a little and jiggled Baby.
'Baby? What do you say? Are you gonna come be happy here with me and my family?' He asked cupping her face so she had to meet his gaze and focus on him.

'We're your family too Baby. We'll always be here for you.' His dad said softly as he stood up.

Baby was overwhelmed by their kindness and she couldn't think of anything she'd like more. So she nodded and cried a little harder at the revelation she finally had a warm home and would be surrounded by loving people. These were tears of relief. Jungkook kissed her once softly on the lips and grinned at her. Now they could be together all the time.

His mother clapped happily as her husband smiled at her and clapped his son on the shoulder. They needed to make some plans to get Baby's things and talk to her parents next.
