“They’re so cute!” Ruby shouted from the crowd. I peeled my eyes away from Reece’s and I turned to the band. They were all smiling and cheering.
“Nice job, dude!” Justin shouted.
“You two are cute as,” Sam said.
I took Reece’s hand and we jumped down from the stage.
“So, what’s happening now?” Sam asked. I shrugged.
“I think I’ll go home, and make up with Jai,” I said. That’s what is best, I think.
“That sounds pretty good to me,” Reece said.
“You still going to join the band?” Chad asked.
“I don’t think so, sorry. I mean, I’ll help out with a few performances, but I think I should just focus on school for a while,” I said. Sam nodded, giving me a smile.
“It’s all right, we understand. Just make sure you keep in touch,” Sam said. Ruby searched through her handbag and pulled out a piece of paper and a pen, and wrote down her number.
“Women…they have like everything in those things,” Justin laughed. He took the pen off Ruby, and wrote down his number. So did Chad and Sam, who handed the piece of paper to me. I stuffed it into my handbag.
“Oh, my stuff is still at your place,” I said.
“We’ll drop it by after our performance. You go and talk to your friend and spend some time with Reece, okay?” Ruby asked. I nodded and gave each of them a hug. I gave Sam a special hug, seeming as he’s the one that first spoke to me and offered me a place to stay over the last few days.
“Thank you guys so much for everything,” I said gratefully.
“You’re welcome, Kris. Just stay in touch with us,” Sam said. I gave them all a smile and one last look.
“I definitely will. Well, I’ll be seeing you guys around then,” I said.
“Bye, Kris. Good luck,” they all said.
“Call me maybe!” Justin shouted, laughing. We all cracked up laughing and I took Reece’s hand.
“I will. Bye, guys,” I said.
“Bye, Kris!” they shouted after me as Reece and I walked out the door to his car. Reece was carrying my guitar case for me.
“They sound like really good people,” Reece said. I threw him a smile as I hopped into the passenger seat.
“They really are,” I agreed.
It’s weird how fate works. If I had decided to go to a different bar, on a different night, I may have never even met them in my whole life.
I’m glad I did, because they certainly have left footprints in my heart.

“Jai, get your ass over to my place,” I said as I flopped down onto my sofa. Reece hopped down next to me and wrapped his arms around me. Oddly enough, I was glad to finally be back at my house.
“Kris, is that you?” Jai asked from the other end of the phone.
“The one and only,” I answered. I tried to stop myself from giggling as Reece was sending kisses down my neck.
“So you and Reece have made up?” Jai asked. I laughed.
“Yeah, we’re all good now. So, you coming over or will we have to eat all the pancakes for ourselves?” I asked. I had trouble hiding my giggles as Reece started kissing on the other side of my neck, his hands on my waist.
“Be there in five,” Jai quickly laughed as he hung up the phone. I’m glad he was a bit happier.
“He’ll be here in five minutes,” I said to Reece. He continued placing kisses on my neck, and slowly made his way to my lips.
“Jai.” Kiss. “Will.” Kiss. “Be.” Kiss. “Here.” Kiss. “In.” Kiss. “Five.” Kiss. “Minutes.
“That’s fine,” Reece said, grinning and giving me one more kiss on the lips. I slowly started to kiss back, until I started falling off the lounge chair. I lost my balance and fell to the floor, and Reece fell too and landed on top of me.
We both cracked up laughing.
“You know, I don’t really mind this position,” Reece said, grinning.
I quickly spun around so I was on top. I raised my eyebrows.
“I don’t like this one, either,” he shrugged. I placed my hands on Reece’s waist and placed a kiss on his lips again. Reece’s hands snuck to my waist.
Just then, I heard a knock on the door. Reece sighed.
“That was so not five minutes,” he said sadly. I laughed and got off Reece and sat down on the lounge seat. Reece sat next to me.
“Come on in!” I shouted. The door opened and in walked Jai.
Instantly, I jumped up off of the couch and Jai ran to me, giving me a huge hug and spinning me around. I laughed when he settled me back down, dizzy.
“I’m so sorry, Kris, for being such an idiot and a jerk. You’re my best friend I should be happy that you’re with someone that cares about you so much,” Jai immediately said. I laughed and gave him a hug.
“Jai, it’s all right. I’m sorry, too. For everything,” I said. I pulled away from him.
“I just want to be best friends again, Kris,” Jai said. I smiled and nodded.
“Me too,” I agreed.
“So…where are the pancakes?” Jai asked, looking around. Reece and I cracked up laughing.
“Dude, sorry to break the news, but there’s no pancakes,” Reece said.
“What? No pancakes?” Jai exclaimed, shocked. He turned to me.
“Oh, you’re so paying for this,” Jai said, moving closer to me. I squealed and ran to Reece; Jai knew my most ticklish spot; my thighs.
“Don’t let him touch my thighs!” I shouted. Reece cracked up laughing and pinned me to the couch.
“What if I…do this,” Reece said, squeezing my thigh. I squealed out in shock and rolled out from under Reece. Reece and Jai cracked up laughing.
Jai appeared next to me, giving me a shock. “Boo,” he whispered, grinning.
“Oh no…” I whispered. I stood up, and a pair of arms wrapped around behind me. I tilted my head, to see Reece standing there, grinning.
“I love you,” he whispered. I grinned and kissed him on the lips.
Jai gave an awkward cough when Reece started to kiss back. I pulled away from Reece and grinned at Jai.
Just then, at that moment, I realised how lucky I was.
I had an amazing boyfriend.
I had an amazing best friend.
And I had just made friends with another group of amazing people.
Somehow, through this whole thing, all of our lives collided. In the collision, I fell for the boy of my dreams, made a best friend, and found my love for music.
It’s weird how things work, isn’t it?
I’ve been heartbroken.
I’ve been hurt.
But now I know who I am and who I’m meant to be. And being there, in Reece’s arms, I knew that I was loved.
My life isn’t perfect and I’ve had my fair share of problems.
But I wouldn’t change it for a thing.
