prologue

YUUKA POV

The neon lights outside were so bright that we didn't even have to turn on the lights in the karaoke room.

It was just me and Moriya singing like there was no tomorrow.

Everything seemed to emanate joy and it didn't even seem that our country was going through social and economic chaos.

- Hey Yuukarin, sing some songs in English. You are the best English student in the whole school and you spend time singing things in Japanese - Moriya complained almost lying on the couch.

She was tired, after all, she had been singing for almost an entire hour before I started having the courage and started singing too.

I choose some and start singing, still with my eyes closed because I was nervous for fear of missing the lyrics, after all I didn't want to miss it.

We had bet that whoever had the lowest karaoke score today, would pay the other a snack after we finished there.

I sing one, two, three, four songs and I don't hear any reaction from her. I stop singing.

I look at her and realize that she was apparently asleep.

I approach to check. I nudge her cheek and she don't open your eyes. I think she's really dozed off.

Her face was peaceful, unlike when she was awake. Her skin was so clear that the neon lights came to reflect on them. She looked helpless, totally vulnerable. My attention ended up falling over her mouth.

Moriya always prided herself on her lips. She said they were the best in the world.

In fact, they were very beautiful, and now that she could see them up close, they seemed to be very hot. And in a way, inviting.

The noise from the other rooms was so loud that I could barely hear my own heart, but unfortunately, it was beating very hard and fast. I end up acting on impulse. I give Moriya a soft, quick kiss.

In the next second, a karaoke employee came into the room with the drink I had ordered a half hour ago. Obviously, I was scared of him, but I quickly said, "Thank you very much."

However, what I heard in the next second was almost like a death treaty

And it was the first time in my life that I realized that it was impossible for me to be happy loving the person I loved.
